Kellum scores 21, SE Missouri tops Central Arkansas 87-63

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) Trey Kellum scored 17 of his 21 points after halftime as Southeast Missouri opened the second half with a 36-1 run to beat Central Arkansas 87-63 on Thursday night.

Jaylen Benton and Antonius Cleveland had 13 points apiece, Denzel Mahoney scored 12 and Jamaal Calvin had a career-best nine of SEMO's season-high 28 assists on 33 field goals.

The Redhawks (4-3) shot just 38 percent and committed eight turnovers in the first half and trailed by seven at the break. Central Arkansas missed its first 12 second-half shots and went scoreless for nearly 6 1/2 minutes during SEMO's decisive run. Benton had 13 points, including three 3-pointers, and Kellum scored 10 during that stretch.

Jordan Howard led UCA (1-6) with 15 points.

Southeast Missouri shot 59.5 percent from the field and made 10 of its season-high 14 3s in the second half.
