James Madison knocks off College of Charleston 56-52

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) Joey McLean made six points in the final 30 seconds to secure James Madison's 56-52 win over College of Charleston on Thursday night.

The victory moved the Dukes (19-7, 9-4) into a tie with William & Mary for second place in the Colonial Athletic Conference. Both teams are two games behind North Carolina-Wilmington, which James Madison will face in Wilmington on Saturday.

Ron Curry led James Madison with 16 points. Jackson Kent and McLean added eight apiece.

The Dukes were up 25-23 at the break but Marquise Pointer nailed a trey to begin the second half and start Charleston on a 7-0 run to take its first lead, 30-25. The Cougars extended that to 40-31 at the 13:11 mark.

Curry nailed a 3-pointer to start James Madison on a 15-4 run to close out the game.

Pointer had 15 points and Jarrell Brantley and Evan Bailey added 10 apiece for Charleston (15-9, 7-6).
