Houston Baptist tops SE Louisiana 73-68 in Southland tourney

KATY, Texas (AP) Anthony Odunsi hit 12 of 12 free throws and finished with 20 points and nine rebounds, while freshman Asa Cantwell scored a career-high 15 to help fourth-seeded Houston Baptist beat No. 5 seed Southeastern Louisiana 73-68 in the quarterfinals of the Southland Conference tournament Thursday.

Colter Lasher added 11 points and eight rebounds, and Isaiah Robinson grabbed a career-best 12 boards with six blocked shots for Houston Baptist.

The Huskies (17-15) will face top-seeded Stephen F. Austin (25-5) in the semifinals Friday.

Cantwell hit four of his career-high five 3-pointers in the first half as HBU took a 33-20 lead into the break.

Southeastern Louisiana opened the second half with a 17-2 run - capped by Joshua Filmore's 3 - to take 37-34 lead with 14:49 left and it remained close until an 11-2 spurt - including six points by Lasher - put the Huskies in front, 61-53, for good.

Jordan Capps led Southeastern Louisiana with 23 points and 10 rebounds.
