Hittle scores 30 points; Incarnate Word beats Lamar 89-70

SAN ANTONIO (AP) Kyle Hittle made six 3-pointers and finished with 30 points and Incarnate Word rolled to an 89-70 victory over Lamar on Saturday night.

Hittle was two points shy of his career best, shooting 10 of 15 from the floor. Shawn Johnson added 16 point for Incarnate Word (15-11, 10-5 Southland Conference), which shot 56 percent from the field and 58 percent on 14-of-24 shooting from long range. Jontrell Walker had 11 points, and Simi Socks and Mitchell Badillo chipped in 10 apiece.

Preston Mattingly scored 21 points and Quan Jones had 11 to lead Lamar (11-17, 3-13).

Incarnate Word had a double-digit lead for nearly the entire second half before Lamar pulled to 79-70 with two minutes to play.

Incarnate Word closed on a 10-0 run. Hittle scored five points and Lamar missed its last three shots during the stretch.
