Harrison with winning shot, UMKC edges Bowling Green 71-69

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) Martez Harrison scored 23 points, including the game-winning bucket in the final seconds, as the University of Missouri-Kansas City edged Bowling Green 71-69 on Saturday.

Harrison's winning jumper came with three seconds on the clock after Bowling Green's Ismail Ali hit a layup to tie the game at 69 with 1:02 remaining.

Harrison was 9 of 16 from the field including two 3-pointers for the Kangaroos (2-1). LaVelle Boyd added 19 points and four rebounds. Darnell Tillman led the team with eight rebounds. UMKC averaged 42.6 percent shooting from the field and had a 47-33 rebounding edge over the Falcons (0-3).

The Kangaroos trailed 37-35 at the break and struggled early in the second period until Boyd sank a 3-pointer and a layup to get the team back on pace. UMKC took a 69-67 lead on a Broderick Robertson 3-pointer with 1:34 to play.

Antwon Lillard led the Falcons with 19 points.
