Grand Canyon hangs on for 79-75 win over New Mexico State
PHOENIX (AP) Joshua Braun scored 23 points, hauled in 11 rebounds and lifted Grand Canyon to a 79-75 win over New Mexico State on Saturday night.
Trailing 39-35 at the break, Grand Canyon (15-2, 2-0 Western Athletic Conference) opened the second half with a 10-4 burst and later extended its advantage to 51-44 on DeWayne Russell's bucket with 14:22 left. New Mexico State (9-8, 1-1) stayed close and shaved the gap to 75-74 on Ian Baker's 3-pointer with eight seconds to go but Braun sealed the Antelope's win at the foul line.
Grandy Glaze added 15 points and Russell finished with 11 for Grand Canyon, which has won eight straight. Braun was just 4 of 9 from the field but went 14 for 17 from the line.
Pascal Siakam led New Mexico State with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Sidy Ndir added 14 points and Ian Baker had 13 for the Aggies.
