Evans scores 32, leads Rice over Southern Miss 76-74 in OT

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) Marcus Evans matched a career-best with 32 points, including a pair of free throws with three seconds left in overtime to give Rice a 76-74 victory over Southern Mississippi on Thursday night for its fourth-straight win.
Evans was 12 of 19 from the field and made 6 of 9 free throws. Connor Cashaw added 13 points and Max Guercy had three points, nine assists and seven rebounds for the Owls (12-16, 7-8 Conference USA).
Kourtlin Jackson scored 31 points to lead Southern Miss (7-19, 4-11). Khari Price had 12 points and seven assists.
Michael Ramey made a 3 and Southern Miss had its last lead, 73-72 with 36 seconds left in OT. Evans answered with a jumper and two free throws to seal it.
The Eagles led 66-59 with 38 seconds left in regulation. Evans scored four points, and Guercy made a 3-pointer with five seconds left to tie it at 66 and force overtime.
