Dawson, Cabbil help Liberty hold off Longwood for 55-53 win

LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) John Dawson had 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists, and Lovell Cabbil hit 5 of 6 free throws in the final 34 seconds to help Liberty hold off Longwood for a 55-53 win Tuesday night.

Cabbil finished with 12 points. Dawson made 5 of 6 from the field, including a career-high tying four 3-pointers.

The Flames (6-15, 3-5 Big south) led by as many as 14 in the second half.

Tra'Vaughn White hit back-to-back 3s to cap a 14-4 run and pull Longwood (6-14, 2-5) within one with eight seconds to play as Liberty went scoreless for more than three minutes.

After Cabbil made 1 of 2 free throws with six seconds left to make it 53-55, White drove to the basket and was fouled - but the officials reviewed the play and determined the foul occurred after time expired.

White led Longwood with 18 points.
