Carter sparks Valparaiso late, beats Milwaukee 80-76 in OT

MILWAUKEE (AP) Keith Carter scored five of his 14 points and had a key rebound in the final 38 seconds of overtime to help Valparaiso beat Milwaukee 80-76 on Friday night for its fourth-straight win.

Matt Tiby made a layup to give Milwaukee its last lead, 74-73 with 48 seconds left. Carter hit a 3-pointer and the Crusaders led, 76-74. Tiby missed a 3-point attempt on the ensuing possession, and Carter grabbed the rebound, then made two free throws to stretch Valparaiso's lead to 78-74. Tiby made a layup with three seconds left, and Valparaiso's Shane Hammink made two free throws to end it.

Alec Peters made five 3-pointers and finished with 23 points to lead Valparaiso (25-5, 15-2 Horizon League), which entered the game having already clinched the league title. The Crusaders end their regular season at Green Bay on Saturday.

Tiby scored 21 points for Milwaukee (18-12, 9-8).
