Blackmon scores 21 points, Brown beats CCSU 75-58

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) Tavon Blackmon scored 21 points, hitting 11 of 12 free throws, and made four assists and Brown pulled away from Central Connecticut 75-58 on Saturday to win its fourth straight.

Steven Spieth scored 14 points with four assists for the Bears (5-4), who made 19 of 21 free throws (90.5 percent) and shot 44.4 percent from the floor (24 of 54). Brandon Anderson added 14 points.

Leading 37-34 at halftime, Brown's Joshua Howard made back-to-back layups, Spieth hit a 3-pointer and the Bears began to pull away. Obi Okolie's layup sparked a 7-0 run for a 63-49 Brown lead while CCSU missed three shots over six minutes. Howard's layup capped a 6-0 run while the Blue Devils went scoreless for 1:17 and Brown cruised into the stretch.

Austin Nehls scored 18 points and made 3 of 6 3-pointers for CCSU (2-4), Khalen Cumberlander finished with 13 and Tidell Pierre added 10.
