Two saves in win
Takaoka had two saves and allowed one goal in Sunday's 3-1 victory versus Minnesota United.
Impact
Takaoka would have been disappointed not to earn a clean sheet during Sunday's win, but on the whole it was a nice showing from the goalkeeper. He stopped two of the three shots he faced and came away with yet another win. Takaoka is absolutely thriving behind a totally revitalized Vancouver defense.

Earns another clean sheet
Takaoka recorded two saves and allowed zero goals in Saturday's 0-0 draw against St. Louis City SC.
Impact
Takaoka continued his brilliant start to the 2025 campaign, keeping yet another clean sheet during Saturday's draw. The goalkeeper is off to an incredible start and barring a total collapse, it appears he will set new career-bests for goals allowed and clean sheets.

Simple clean sheet
Takaoka had no saves and secured a clean sheet in Saturday's 2-0 win over Colorado Rapids.
Impact
Takaoka didn't have to make a save during Saturday's win, earning the win and clean sheet during a simple win. The goalkeeper is off to a brilliant start in his third season in Vancouver and is on pace to set a variety of career-highs for clean sheets and goals conceded if he can keep this form going at all behind a solid backline.

Concedes three in loss
Takaoka made two saves and allowed three goals in Saturday's 3-1 loss against Chicago Fire.
Impact
After two straight clean sheets, Takaoka conceded more than one goal for the first time in five appearances on the season. This also marked the second time in the five outings that he made more than one save. Up next for the Whitecaps is a meeting with Toronto FC on Saturday.

Easy clean sheet
Takaoka registered no saves and secured a clean sheet in Saturday's 1-0 victory against FC Dallas.
Impact
Takaoka didn't have much to do during Saturday's win, with no shots coming his way and yet another clean sheet. Vancouver are off to a brilliant start and the excellent defense in front of Takaoka has gone a long way towards that. It also means Takaoka has some solid clean sheet upside.

Two-save clean sheet
Takaoka registered two saves and secured a clean sheet in Saturday's 2-0 victory versus CF Montreal.
Impact
Takaoka stopped a pair of shots and that was all he had to do to come away with the clean sheet. The goalkeeper is off to a brilliant start to 2025, especially with the Vancouver defense looking solid in front of him. Takaoka will hope to keep that going moving forward as he looks to finally establish himself as one of the top goalkeepers in MLS.

Quiet win
Takaoka had one save and allowed one goal in Sunday's 2-1 victory versus Los Angeles Galaxy.
Impact
Takaoka faced only two shots and stopped one of them, coming away with the win yet again, even if he hasn't found any luck with clean sheets. The goalkeeper will hope to start converting those clean sheets at some point, though the consistent wins with a good defense in front of him are a great start to the season.

Denied clean sheet
Takaoka had one save and allowed one goal in Sunday's 4-1 victory against Portland Timbers.
Impact
Takaoka was playing against 10 men and seemed set to open the season with a clean sheet, though a late strike ending up losing that. In the end it was still a comfortable win for the goalkeeper, who only faced a pair of shots against a lackluster Portland attack. Takaoka remains a perfectly serviceable middle of the pack goalkeeper in MLS.

Returning to Vancouver
Takaoka is returning to Vancouver after his contract option for 2025 was picked up.
Impact
Takaoka has been the starting goalkeeper in Vancouver for two years, and while he might not be the best in MLS he has been solid. The goalkeeper should be back for 2025, where he will be the top choice in net once more, with eyes on his first season with double-digit clean sheets.

Single save in loss
Takaoka made one save and allowed one goal in Friday's 1-0 loss against Los Angeles Football Club.
Impact
Takaoka's second season came to an end with another disappointing loss to LAFC. It was a similar season to his first with Vancouver. He kept nine clean sheets and made 99 saves while conceding 50 times. That's essentially identical to his 2023 campaign, and establishes that Takaoka is still a solid, if uninspiring goalkeeper.

Four saves Sunday
Takaoka recorded four saves and allowed zero goals in Sunday's 3-0 victory versus Los Angeles Football Club.
Impact
Takaoka produced an incredible clean sheet Sunday in one of the most important matches of the season. He now will need to try and shut down LAFC yet again in the final match of the opening round.

Concedes twice
Takaoka registered two saves and allowed two goals in Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Los Angeles Football Club.
Impact
Takaoka conceded on either side of halftime, once from the penalty spot and once from open play. It's obviously a disappointing loss, though Takaoka was individually solid. The goalkeeper was always going to struggle against a side as good as LAFC, and will need to be at his best to force a third match in the opening round.

Clean sheet in win
Takaoka had four saves and allowed zero goals in Wednesday's 5-0 win versus Portland Timbers. In addition, he was given a yellow card in the 54th minute.
Impact
Takaoka has now equaled last years total with eight clean sheets, and he did it this week against one of the best attacks in the league. Though now he faces LAFC in the next round, who ended at the top seed in the Western Conference and who have golden boot runner-up Denis Bouanga and World Cup winner Olivier Giroud leading the front, making it an extremely tough matchup.

Concedes twice Sunday
Takaoka recorded two saves and allowed two goals in Sunday's 2-1 loss to Los Angeles Football Club.
Impact
Takaoka couldn't do much in the first goal since he was helpless by Mateusz Bogusz's impressive finish, and he couldn't stop Ilie's perfectly-placed shot from outside the box in the 93nd minute, either. Takaoka has now gone six straight matches conceding at least once and has given up two or more goals in three of his last five appearances.

Beaten from penalty spot
Takaoka registered four saves and allowed one goal in Saturday's 1-0 loss versus Minnesota United.
Impact
Takaoka made four saves Saturday but was beaten after his team conceded a first half penalty kick. Vancouver would fall 1 - 0 to Minnesota. Since a run of three successive clean sheets, Takaoka has failed to secure a clean sheet over his last five appearances (five starts). Over that span, he's made 15 saves and conceded 10 goals. Takaoka's next test should come Sunday when Vancouver host LAFC who have scored six goals over their most recent three MLS matches.
