Castello Lukeba - Training with squad Lukeba (back) participated in Thursday's training session.

Impact Lukeba was forced off at halftime against Werder Bremen on Dec. 19 but appears to be in the mix to rejoin the squad when the Bundesliga resumes Jan. 13 against Eintracht Frankfurt. Once given the all-clear, the central defender should be in the mix to reclaim his spot in the starting XI where he figures to rack up plenty of defensive stats but will offer limited offensive upside.

Ilaix Moriba - Trailing with Guinea Moriba has been called up to represent Guinea ahead of the 2024 AFCON, according to the African Football Confederation.

Impact Moriba will not be an option for Liepzig for around the next month, having been selected by Guniea for the 2024 AFCON roster. The midfielder has yet to play a minute for the first team this season, so his absence will not affect anything internally at Leipzig. He will hope to earn some time once he returns from international duty.

Amadou Haidara - Joins Mali for AFCON Haidara has been called up to represent Mali ahead of the 2024 AFCON, according to the African Football Confederation.

Impact Haidara will be with Mali during the 2024 AFCON, forcing him to be away from Leipzig for around the next month, depending on what his nation does during the tournament. He has been a regular starter for much of the season since recovering from an injury on match day six, so his absence will cause some change in the starting XI. Expect Nicolas Seiwald to get most of the time starting in the defensive midfielder role while Haidara is away from the team.

Castello Lukeba - Struggling with back issues Lukeba (back) was unable to train Tuesday due to a back issue, Leipzig announced.

Impact Lukeba came off with the back problem against Bremen and it appears the winter break wasn't enough time for him to recover. The defender is expected to get back on the pitch for a Jan. 13 clash with Frankfurt, assuming no setbacks. With Will Orban (knee) still not in team training, Lukeba should continue in the starting XI if fit.

Eljif Elmas - Still struggling with thigh Elmas (thigh) trained alone during Tuesday's session, Leipzig announced.

Impact Elmas joined Leipzig with an issue in his thigh and it appears he didn't recover from it quite yet. He was able to work individually, leaving the chance for a return as soon as a Jan. 13 clash with Frankfurt open. Elmas could see substantial minutes immediately following the departure of Emil Forsberg.

Dani Olmo - Working individually Olmo (shoulder) is rehabbing individually to start RB Leipzig's training camp.

Impact Olmo was included in the training camp squad, but he only kicked off with an individual session. The attacking midfielder was in absolutely flying form before going down with yet another frustrating injury. He has an outside chance to return in some capacity for a Jan. 13 clash with Frankfurt, though a start would be surprising.

Impact Orban is only working in individual training at Lepzig's training camp. The defender was hoping to return after the break but his status for the Jan. 13 clash with Frankfurt seems to be trending negatively. While Orban remains out it is Castello Lukeba who should continue to see a substantial starting role.

Eljif Elmas - Transfers to Leipzig Elmas will be joining Leipzig from Napoli at the start of the winter transfer window, having agreed upon a transfer Wednesday, according to the club.

Impact Elmas is taking his talents from Italy to Germany, having transferred to RB Leipzig. The attacker will remain with the club for a long time, having signed a four-and-a-half-year contract until June of 2028. He has been decent with Napoli thus far, notching 16 appearances to go along with two goals this campaign. He should fight for minutes immediately with Leipzig and will hope to find some time on the pitch as soon as he is integrated into the squad, possibly taking over Emil Forsberg's spot after he transferred to the MLS with the New York Red Bulls.

Janis Blaswich - Single save Tuesday Blaswich recorded one save and allowed one goal in Tuesday's 1-1 draw versus Werder Bremen.

Impact Blaswich faced just two shots and stopped only one of them during the draw. The goalkeeper has done enough to keep Peter Gulacsi on the bench even though he has returned from a serious knee injury. The winter break will be the real test though, if there ever was a time to swap it would be during the three-week break.

He will remain on one of the premier attacking full-backs in Germany moving forward.
