Impact Vargas slid the ball across the top of the box Saturday to setup the opening goal of Atletico Madrid's 2-0 victory at Valencia. The assist marked the first La Liga goal contribution for the 20-year old midfielder who moved from Seattle to Madrid during the winter transfer window. Vargas has excelled at breaking up play in Spain, recording 18 tackles (11 won), seven interceptions and eight clearances across his first eight appearances (five starts).

Moves across the pond Vargas has completed a transfer to Atletico Madrid from Seattle, according to his new club.

Impact Vargas is off to Spain after his time in MLS play with Seattle, inking a deal with Atletico until 2030. He has been a starter each of the past two seasons with his former club, recording six goals and five assists in 62 appearances across the two seasons. This will leave a major gap for Seattle, possibly forcing Kalani Kossa-Rienzi into that role. However, with Atletico he is likely to see a bit less time, likely to sit in a rotational role fighting for time with Johnny Cardoso.
