Impact Askarov is in need of a good performance as he has allowed 17 goals on 105 shots (.838 save percentage) across three starts. The 23-year-old came into the season as the Sharks' No. 1 goaltender, but another poor outing could get him sent to AHL San Jose. Askarov will face the Devils, who are tied for second in NHL scoring, averaging 4.00 goals.

Impact Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic have been splitting the workload for the Sharks to start the season, but the former's results haven't been good. Aside from the fact that he's lost in his three starts for a winless Sharks team, the main issue is that Asrakov has given up at least four goals each time. Through his three appearances, he's stopped only 88 of the 105 shots he's faced -- good for a ballooned 5.73 GAA and a poor .838 save percentage. Fantasy managers shouldn't consider starting Askarov in most formats given his early-season struggles.

Impact Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic have been splitting the workload for the Sharks to start the season and it seems that trend will continue heading into Tuesday's road clash. In his two outings this year, the 23-year-old Askarov remains winless, going 0-1-1 with a 6.45 GAA and .833 save percentage. Given the young team around him and split share in the crease, Askarov could struggle to put up wins this year, making him a mid-range fantasy option at best.

Impact Askarov's 2025-26 is off to an unimpressive start with 13 goals allowed on 78 shots over two games. That shot volume against is a big problem, but one that's not likely to get better in the near term with the Sharks battling multiple injuries on the blue line. The 23-year-old has alternated starts with Alex Nedeljkovic, a pattern that's likely to continue until one goalie gets in a groove. Look for Nedeljkovic to get the nod versus his former team, the Penguins, at home Saturday.

It's a start like this that shows why the Sharks seem intent on splitting time between Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic early in the campaign. The 23-year-old Askarov is the goalie of the future, and he'll get his chances in 2025-26, but fantasy managers may want to see him as more of a streaming option when he gets a favorable matchup. The Sharks' next game is a tough one at home versus the Hurricanes on Tuesday.
