Big nights for Toffoli, Smith and Celebrini send Sharks to 6-3 win over Mammoth

Tyler Toffoli had two goals and two assists as the San Jose Sharks defeated the Utah Mammoth 6-3
DECEMBER 2 • Associated Press
First goalie off Monday Askarov was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, Max Miller of NHL.com reports, indicating that he'll draw the home start against the Mammoth.
Impact Askarov has been largely effective recently, outside of a performance against the Avalanche on Wednesday in which he allowed four goals on 19 shots (.789 save percentage). Across his last five starts, he's gone 4-1-0 with a 2.65 GAA and .919 save percentage. He's already made two starts against Utah this year -- one at home and one on the road -- and he went 1-1-0 with a 3.91 GAA and .867 save percentage in those outings.

Bounces back vs. Vancouver Askarov stopped 32 of 34 shots in Friday's 3-2 win over the Canucks.
Impact Askarov was coming off a subpar performance against the Avalanche on Wednesday, where he stopped 15 of 19 shots before being lifted in a 6-0 loss. However, the 23-year-old bounced back admirably and was terrific in leading the Sharks to a big win at home. Askarov has posted a save percentage of at least .910 in nine of his last 11 appearances, going 8-3-0 with a 2.09 GAA and a .934 save percentage in that span.

Between pipes Friday Askarov will defend the home net versus Vancouver on Friday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Impact Askarov has been outstanding in November, though he did have a difficult start Wednesday against the mighty Avalanche, giving up four goals on 19 shots before he was pulled with five minutes to go in the second period. Askarov is 7-2-0 with a 1.87 GAA and a .944 save percentage in nine November starts. The Canucks are tied for 16th in goal production this season, generating 3.08 goals per game.

Pulled from Wednesday's game Askarov was pulled from Wednesday's 6-0 loss to the Avalanche. He was tagged with the loss after allowing four goals on 19 shots before being lifted.
Impact Askarov got the start against a red-hot Avalanche team but didn't have a good result, and he saw his three-game winning run end after this woeful performance. Despite the blowout loss here, Askarov has done a good job between the pipes for the Sharks this month, so fantasy managers shouldn't overreact to this outing. Askarov has gone 7-2-0 with a 1.87 GAA and a .944 save percentage even after allowing four goals on 19 shots Wednesday, which speaks volumes of the way he's been playing lately.
NOVEMBER 27 • ROTOWIRE
Set to start Wednesday Askarov was the first goalie off during Wednesday's morning skate, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports, indicating that he'll draw the road start against Colorado.
Impact Askarov is in the midst of a hot streak in which he's gone 7-1-0 with a 1.47 GAA and .955 save percentage. He drew a home start against Colorado on Nov. 1 and turned aside 36 of 38 shots (.947 save percentage in a 3-2 overtime victory.

Stellar in win over Bruins Askarov stopped 34 of 35 shots in Sunday's 3-1 win over the Bruins.
Impact Askarov was kept busy, but he allowed just a Morgan Geekie goal in the middle of the third period. This was Askarov's seventh win in eight outings this month, and it's the fifth time he's allowed exactly one goal during November. The 23-year-old is up to 8-5-1 with a 2.83 GAA and a .913 save percentage through 14 starts. That's already a career-high workload in an NHL season, and it's clear the Sharks' No. 1 job between the pipes will be Askarov's at least until he hits a slump. Fantasy managers may still be wary of his next matchup, as the Sharks are visiting the Avalanche on Wednesday. Askarov defeated Colorado in overtime on Nov. 1 by stopping 36 of 38 shots, though that game was in San Jose.

Getting Sunday start Askarov will be in net for Sunday's game against the Bruins, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
Impact Askarov has been on a November heater for the Sharks, putting up video game numbers. In seven starts this month, the 23-year-old is 6-1-0 with a 1.54 GAA and a .957 save percentage. He'll look to build on those impressive stats Sunday against the Bruins, who have been held to three goals or fewer in five consecutive games.

Escapes with shootout win Askarov stopped 31 of 34 shots in Thursday's 4-3 shootout win over the Kings.
Impact Askarov picked up his sixth win in his last seven outings despite allowing three goals for the first time in that span. The third tally was Adrian Kempe's game-tying goal at 19:01 of the third period, but Askarov stayed firm and turned aside all three of the Kings' shootout attempts after not facing a shot in overtime. The 23-year-old netminder improved to 7-5-1 with a 2.97 GAA and a .905 save percentage in 13 appearances. The Sharks' next two games are at home in a back-to-back set versus the Senators on Saturday and the Bruins on Sunday. Expect Askarov and Alex Nedeljkovic to split those starts.

Kurashev scores only goal of shootout, Sharks beat the Kings 4-3

Philipp Kurashev scored in regulation and the only goal of a shootout, and the San Jose Sharks held on for a 4-3 win over the Los Angeles Kings
NOVEMBER 21 • Associated Press
Exits ice first Askarov was the first goalie off the ice ahead of Thursday's home matchup with Los Angeles, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports, indicating he'll be between the pipes.
Impact Askarov has been hard to beat of late, going 5-1-0 with a 1.31 GAA in his last six contests. With the 23-year-old netminder on top of his game, he figures to see plenty of work ahead of Alex Nedeljkovic. Through just 12 outings, Askarov has already set a new personal best with six wins and should be capable of challenging for the 20-win threshold at least.
NOVEMBER 20 • ROTOWIRE
Wins in overtime Askarov stopped 24 of 26 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Mammoth.
Impact Askarov allowed more than one goal for the first time in five outings, but Macklin Celebrini's hat trick lifted the Sharks to the win. Askarov has taken leaps forward this year alongside the rest of the young Sharks, and he's played his way into being a reliable fantasy goalie. The 23-year-old is at 6-5-1 with a 2.99 GAA and a .907 save percentage through 12 starts. The Sharks will get a firm test in their next game, which is at home versus the Kings on Thursday.

Celebrini's hat trick and overtime goal lift Sharks over Mammoth

Macklin Celebrini scores a power-play goal in overtime, leading the San Jose Sharks to a 3-2 victory over the Utah Mammoth
NOVEMBER 19 • Associated Press
Scheduled to face Utah Askarov was the first netminder off at morning skate, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports, which indicates he'll guard the home cage Tuesday versus the Mammoth.
Impact Askarov has been tremendous lately after a slow start to the campaign, but his four-game winning streak was snapped during his last start in Calgary on Thursday. Still, he stopped 34 of 35 shots in that game but didn't receive any offensive support in a 2-0 loss. To put things in perspective, the 2020 first-round pick has a 1.19 GAA and an otherworldly .965 save percentage across his last five outings, so he'll look to get back in the win column Tuesday after receiving the night off Saturday in Seattle. The Mammoth are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the Ducks on Monday, so the Sharks have the clear rest advantage.
NOVEMBER 18 • ROTOWIRE
On wrong side of shutout Askarov stopped 34 of 35 shots in Thursday's 2-0 loss to the Flames. The second goal was an empty-netter.
Impact Blake Coleman created a turnover and scored at 5:46 of the second period for the only goal that got past Askarov. While this was the end of Askarov's four-game winning streak, he still put forth an excellent performance. He's now allowed exactly one goal in four straight outings. For the season, the 23-year-old is 5-5-1 with a 3.09 GAA and a .906 save percentage over 11 starts. The Sharks' next game is Saturday in Seattle, and if Alex Nedeljkovic (personal) isn't back with the team by then, it's safe to assume Askarov will make another start.

Tending twine Thursday Askarov will patrol the crease on the road against the Flames on Thursday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
Impact Askarov is riding a four-game winning streak during which he posted a 1.23 GAA and .963 save percentage. After an underwhelming start to the year, in which the 23-year-old netminder recorded a disastrous 4.69 GAA, it seems Askarov has rediscovered his form.
