Max Shabanov - No traveling with Isles Shabanov (upper body) has yet to resume skating and will miss New York's three-game road trip, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports Monday.

Impact Shabanov has already missed two games due to his upper-body issue and now will be out of action for at least three more. Prior to his absence, the 25-year-old winger was stuck in a five-game goal drought during which he recorded two helpers, seven shots and five hits while averaging 12:06 of ice time. Once cleared to return, Shabanov should be capable of securing a middle-six role the rest of the way.

David Rittich - Set to start Thursday Rittich is slated to start Thursday's road game against Carolina, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Impact While Rittich has served as the Islanders' No. 2 netminder early in the season, he's been effective in limited action, going 2-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and .940 save percentage over two starts. He'll face a tough road test Thursday, as the Hurricanes are averaging 3.75 goals per game to begin the season, which is tied for the second-best mark in the NHL.

Ilya Sorokin - Get starting nod for Tuesday Sorokin will be between the pipes on the road versus Boston on Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Impact Sorokin is undefeated in regulation over his last three outings, going 2-0-1 despite a 3.25 GAA. It's a strong turnaround for the 30-year-old Russian after he lost his first three games of the year. With a back-to-back coming up, David Rittich will get the nod on the road versus Carolina on Thursday before Sorokin is back in the crease for Friday's road tilt against the Capitals.

Luca Romano - Three-point effort in loss Romano scored a goal on two shots and added two assists in OHL Kitchener's 4-3 loss to Barrie on Saturday.

Impact Romano was in on every goal for Kitchener, but it wasn't enough. The 18-year-old Islanders prospect has four goals and five assists over 11 OHL outings this season. His offense spiked from 22 points in 56 games in 2023-24 to 25 goals and 51 points in 67 outings last season, which was enough for him to 74th overall in 2025. He's a speedy skater, and while the offense isn't anywhere near that of a top prospect, his two-way game is strong, giving him third-line potential as an NHLer eventually.

Ilya Sorokin - Solid outing ends with single point Sorokin made 23 saves in a 4-3 shootout loss to Philadelphia on Saturday.

Impact Sorokin had won two straight games, and he's now 2-3-1 with a 3.70 GAA and .875 save percentage on the season. It's interesting that he has allowed so many goals -- he gave up four goals in each of his first four games and three in his last two. Sorokin is one of the league's most talented netminders, but his supporting cast make statistical excellence a tough call.

Anthony Duclair - Gets goal in shootout loss Duclair scored a goal Saturday in a 4-3 shootout loss to Philadelphia.

Impact He tapped in a pass through the slot to push the Isles up 2-0 early in the second period. Duclair is a one-time 31-goal scorer, but that was way back in 2021-22. And at 30, he's on his ninth team in 12 seasons. A change of scenery is one thing; a guy who can't stick with a team is another. Duclair has two goals and one assist in eight games, but don't overestimate his fantasy value.

Simon Holmstrom - Shorthanded and shootout snipes Holmstrom scored a shorthanded goal in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Flyers on Saturday.

Impact He also scored in the shootout. Holmstrom is on a three-game, four-point scoring streak (two goals, two assists; seven shots). The 24-year-old winger delivered 45 points, including 20 goals, last season, so 50 may be possible for 2025-26.

Marshall Warren - Makes history in NHL debut Warren had two assists Saturday in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Flyers.

Impact It was his NHL debut, and he made history. Warren is the second defenseman in Isles history to have multiple points in his NHL debut (Rich Pilon, Oct. 6, 1988). He was off to a great start with Bridgeport (AHL) before his call-up. Warren had two goals and three assists in four games there.

Maxim Tsyplakov - First point of the season Tsyplakov scored a goal in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Flyers on Saturday.

Impact It was Tsyplakov's first goal and point of the season; it was a redirection of a point shot to put the Isles up 32 at 4:21 of the third period. He put up 35 points (10 goals, 25 assists) in 77 games with the Isles last season. But Tsyplakov's ice time Saturday was down to 8:26 on Saturday, and it's been as low as 6:36 this season. You can't do much offensively when you're not on the ice.
