Ilya Sorokin - Sharp in win Sorokin stopped 22 of 23 shots in Friday's 3-1 win over the Capitals.

Impact Sorokin had allowed seven goals on 47 shots over his previous two outings. He bounced back with a strong performance Friday, which saw him give up nothing more than a Tom Wilson goal off a rebound. Sorokin improved to 3-4-1 with a 3.40 GAA and an .877 save percentage over eight starts. He's still got some work to do to repair the early damage to his numbers, but Sorokin is expected to receive plenty of playing time. The Islanders' next game is Sunday at home versus the Blue Jackets.

Ilya Sorokin - Facing Capitals Sorokin will defend the visiting goal in Washington on Friday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.

Impact It has been a tough go for Sorokin this season as he has allowed three goals on two occasions and four tallies in five games. Overall, Sorokin is 2-4-1 with a 3.75 GAA and an .868 save percentage over seven starts. The Capitals are 25th in NHL scoring, averaging 2.70 goals per game.

Marshall Warren - Loaned to AHL Bridgeport Warren was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Friday.

Impact The Long Island native had two assists in his NHL debut Saturday in Philadelphia and was held off the scoresheet Wednesday in Boston. Warren had two goals and five points in four AHL games before his promotion. The Islanders called up Calum Ritchie in a corresponding move.

Impact Ritchie was initially believed to be in the mix to be recalled ahead of Thursday's game against Carolina since Mathew Barzal was removed from the lineup as a disciplinary measure. However, Ritchie's flight was unable to reach the team in time, and the Islanders ultimately elected to go with 11 forwards and seven defensemen in the lineup against the Hurricanes. Ritchie will instead join the Islanders a day later, and he's expected to make his team debut during Friday's matchup against Washington.
