Impact Nosek suffered the injury on a hit from Jacob Trouba in the first period. The 31-year-old failed to record a point over four contests since returning from a lower-body injury earlier in November. His status for Wednesday's contest in Detroit has yet to be determined.

Impact The Devils have just 12 forwards on the ice for warmups, which is a strong indication Hughes is set to return. The 22-year-old missed five games while dealing with the shoulder injury, and barring a last-minute scratch, he should be able to take on a top-line role with ample power-play time to give the Devils' offense a big boost.

Vitek Vanecek - Starting versus Rangers Vanecek will guard the home goal Saturday versus the Rangers, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Vanecek has won five of his last seven outings, posting a 3.42 GAA and an .883 save percentage in that span. Those rate stats leave much to be desired, but the 27-year-old has still been better than Akira Schmid to maintain the starting job for the Devils. The Rangers have been off since Sunday and should be well rested for this Metropolitan Division clash.

Impact It will be the Devils' second straight contest without Meier. He has five goals and 11 points in 14 outings this season. Max Willman, who drew into the lineup Thursday, will probably play again Saturday.

Impact Hughes returned to practice Friday for the first time since suffering the injury two weeks ago. Hughes was leading the NHL in points with 20 in 10 games before his injury, and is still tied for 15th place in the early going. Hughes has two goals and 10 assists on the power play as he has become a top-five forward in the NHL at the tender age of 22.

Impact Hughes has just returned to practice, so it would be a quick turnaround to lace up the skates versus New York. Still, the 22-year-old center would be a huge boost for the Devils, having racked up five goals and 15 helpers, including 12 power-play points, in 10 games to open the season. If he does play Saturday, Hughes almost certainly would retake his spot on the first line from Michael McLeod.

Curtis Lazar - Five points in last six games Lazar scored a goal and added an assist in a 5-2 win over the Penguins on Thursday.
Impact His goal came shorthanded. Erik Haula stole the puck from Rickard Rakell for a 2-on-1, and he dished to Lazar who wired a wrister that went Tristan Jarry five-hole from the right circle. After going eight games without a point, Lazar has five points, including three goals, and 10 shots in his last six games.

Vitek Vanecek - Secures win over flightless birds Vanecek made 21 saves in a 5-2 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Impact Vanecek surrendered two goals to Bryan Rust. The first one came in the first period when the Pens' forward took a stretch pass and drove hard to the slot before shifting the puck to his backhand and roofing it over Vanecek's blocker. Rust tipped in a shot early in the second, and that was the end of the Pittsburgh offense -- the team didn't muster much effort beyond the two goals and beat themselves. Vanecek got the win, but it wasn't much of a test, and his 3.30 GAA and .889 save percentage are queasy at best. He's 22nd in the NHL in GAA and 24th in save percentage in goalies with 10 or more starts.

Jesper Bratt - Game taking another step forward Bratt scored a goal and added an assist in a 5-3 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Impact Bratt gave the Devils a lead early in the second period that they would never relinquish. While on a 4-on-4, he scored his eighth of the season on a wrist shot from the left circle. Bratt's game has exploded this season, and the winger has eight goals, 14 assists (22 points) in just 15 games. Remarkably, he already has 15 power-play points after putting up 22 in 82 games last season. It's worth noting, though, that his 25.0 shooting percentage is almost double his career mark of 13.2. Expect some regression to the mean, at least from a goal-scoring perspective. However, Bratt has become a primetime player and is on track to shatter his career mark of 73 points, which he scored in each of the last two seasons.
