Erik Haula - Sustains injury Saturday Haula was unable to finish Saturday's game versus the Sabres due to an undisclosed injury, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.

Impact Haula didn't play in the third period due to the injury. Until more details are released, it's unclear if he'll be able to suit up Tuesday versus the Islanders. Max Willman, Timo Meier (lower body) or Curtis Lazar (lower body) could be options to join the lineup if Haula misses time.

Vitek Vanecek - Likely to start Saturday Vanecek was the first goaltender off the ice at morning practice and is expected to defend the home crease versus Buffalo on Saturday, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.

Impact Vanecek is in a two-game mini-slump as he has given up eight goals on 62 shots in the losses. Overall, Vanecek is 7-5-0 with a 3.43 GAA and .886 save percentage. The Sabres are tied for 25th in NHL scoring, averaging 2.85 goals per game.

Impact The Devils are holding a limited skate with only two skaters and both goalies, but it's great news that Meier is back on the ice after he missed the last four games. Meier has five goals and 11 points in 14 games, including goals in each of his last three games. The Devils host Buffalo on Saturday but Meier is unlikely to play.

Impact All the scoring came in the first period, and Schmid had little chance on either Blue Jackets tally. He locked things down over the final two frames, but so did Elvis Merzlikins in the other crease. Schmid has lost all four of his starts in November, but he's given up two goals or less in three of them as the Devils have had trouble providing him with much offensive support, and the 23-year-old netminder has a 2.69 GAA and .911 save percentage during his losing streak.
