Impact Allen garnered his third shutout, and second in his last four games Wednesday, turning aside 24 shots in a 5-0 win over Philadelphia. Allen has taken over as the Devils' No .1 goaltender with Jacob Markstrom on the shelf for another 3-5 weeks with a sprained MCL. The Sabres are averaging 3.10 goals per game, 11th in the NHL this season.

Impact It was the third shutout of the season for the 34-year-old netminder, but his first since Nov. 4. Allen has held down the fort well since Jacob Markstrom was sidelined by a sprained MCL, going 3-1-0 with a 1.66 GAA and .938 save percentage while appearing in four straight games. The Devils don't play again until Sunday and have no back-to-back games before the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, so Allen may not need to be spelled by backup Isaac Poulter during that stretch.

Impact Allen lost to the Flyers in Philadelphia on Monday, allowing three goals on 25 shots. He'll get a quick chance at redemption in this rematch. Allen is handling the starting job for the Devils in the absence of Jacob Markstrom (knee).

Impact Allen has recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since late November, when he recorded two wins on Nov. 14 and Nov. 23 against the Panthers and Capitals, respectively. The 34-year-old has started in three of New Jersey's last four games, going 2-1-0 with a 1.89 GAA and a .923 save percentage in that span. Three games is not enough to draw any long-term conclusions, but he seems to be overcoming the struggles he had earlier in the year. Expect him to remain as New Jersey's top option between the pipes as long as Jacob Markstrom (knee) remains out, which could be the case until late February or early March at a minimum.

With Markstrom out 4-6 weeks, Allen should see plenty of starts. The 34-year-old Allen has a 6-8-1 record with two shutouts, a 2.66 GAA and a .901 save percentage through 15 appearances. Montreal sits 14th in the league with 3.02 goals per game in 2024-25.
