Teuvo Teravainen - Ruled out for rest of series Teravainen (hand), as expected, will miss the remainder of the Canes' first-round series against the Islanders, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports Thursday.
Impact Teravainen is scheduled to undergo surgery Thursday, which could see him miss even more games beyond the opening-round series, assuming Carolina advances. The 28-year-old natural center has been struggling to produce offensively of late with just one assist in his last nine contests. Without Teravainen in the lineup, Jesse Puljujarvi figures to step into a first-line role, though Martin Necas or Jesper Fast could also be in the mix.

Frederik Andersen - Should be available Friday Andersen (illness) "should be fine" for Game 3 on Friday, Hurricanes coach Rod Brind'Amour told Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer.
Impact Andersen didn't play Wednesday due to illness, but he was back on the ice for Thursday's morning skate. It remains to be seen who the starter will be for Friday's contest, but Antti Raanta is the likely candidate given that he's won the Hurricanes' first two contests of the 2023 playoffs. Andersen had a 21-11-1 record, 2.48 GAA and .903 save percentage in 34 regular-season outings.

Mackenzie MacEachern - Recalled from AHL MacEachern was recalled from AHL Chicago on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Impact MacEachern spent the entire season with the Wolves, scoring 11 times and adding 30 points in 37 games. MacEachern will replaced Teuvo Teravainen (hand) who was injured Wednesday and will miss the remainder of the opening round series. MacEachern has played 115 NHL games in his career with St. Louis, managing 11 goals and eight assists.

Impact Raanta will appear in back-to-back games for the first time since late January after putting together a 25-save winning effort over New York in Game 1. Despite the 33-year-old Finn starting Wednesday, he figures to remain on a relatively short leash with Frederik Andersen waiting for an opportunity to start as well. At this point, it seems likely that coach Rod Brind'Amour will continue to ride the hot hand as long as the Canes are in the playoffs.
