It's the second year in a row he's scored in Colorado after being traded from the Avalanche to the Sabres in the 2023-24 campaign. Byram has a goal and an assist over his last two games, and he's at seven points, 22 shots on net, 23 blocked shots, 13 hits, 10 PIM and a minus-5 rating through 17 appearances. The 24-year-old blueliner should continue to see increased opportunities while Rasmus Dahlin (personal) is away from the team.

Impact This was Thompson's second multi-point effort in the last three contests. The 28-year-old is still finding ways to stay involved on offense, but the Sabres are getting inconsistent performances from the rest of the roster. For the season, Thompson is at 14 points (five on the power play), 66 shots on net, 24 hits, 11 blocked shots, 10 PIM and a minus-8 rating over 17 outings.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Gets hefty workload in relief Luukkonen allowed three goals on 30 shots in relief of Alex Lyon in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Avalanche.
Impact A report earlier in the day had Luukkonen as the starter, but fantasy managers who didn't get him out of their lineups still got an appearance from the Finnish netminder. Lyon lasted just 6:10 into the game before he was pulled for performance reasons, and Luukkonen did a fair job in relief. However, Luukkonen did end up with the loss, falling to 1-2-1 on the year while allowing a total of 12 goals on 103 shots. The Sabres' crease is up for grabs with Luukkonen, Lyon and Colten Ellis all in contention for starts, though wins may remains rare for this struggling team.

Alex Lyon - Gets quick hook Thursday Lyon stopped one of three shots before he was relieved by Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen in Thursday's 6-3 loss to the Avalanche.
Impact It was clear enough from the jump that Lyon didn't have it, prompting head coach Lindy Ruff to make a quick switch. That early move spared Lyon from taking the loss, but the 32-year-old's GAA rose from 2.92 to 3.07 while his save percentage dipped from .911 to .907 due to this poor outing. He's 3-5-3 on the year as well, and he if can't turn things around soon, he may cede some playing time to Luukkonen or Colten Ellis. The Sabres wrap up their current road trip in Detroit on Saturday.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen - Isn't starting Thursday Luukkonen won't start in Thursday's road game against Colorado despite a previous report to the contrary, per Paul Hamilton of WGR Sports Radio 550.
Impact Luukkonen has a record of 1-1-1 with a 2.90 GAA and an .877 save percentage in three appearances this season. Alex Lyon is expected to start Thursday. Colten Ellis is also on the active roster, and Luukkonen is seeing limited work despite appearing in over 50 games in each of the previous two campaigns.
