Predicting the Wizards' Likeliest Final Offseason Move Welcome to August in the NBA news world. Most teams have already made their biggest decisions of the offseason; draft picks have been select...
AUGUST 10 • SI.COM
Paige Bueckers - Nets 23 points with eight dimes Bueckers racked up 23 points (10-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds, eight assists and three steals across 31 minutes during Sunday's 103-90 loss to the Lynx.
Impact Bueckers dished out just one assist during Friday's 94-76 loss to the Valkyries, but she did a much better job orchestrating the offense in this one. Despite the improved offensive flow, the end result was another loss for the Wings, who have now dropped three straight.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Jessica Shepard - Won't return Sunday Shepard (ankle) will not return to Sunday's game against the Lynx. She'll finish with one assist in five minutes.
Impact Shepard turned her right ankle in the opening quarter before exiting to the locker room, and she won't return for the remainder of the contest. With the star center unavailable, Li Yueru and Awak Kuier will likely see increased playing time the rest of the way.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Jessica Shepard - Exits to locker room Shepard exited to the locker room in the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Lynx due to an apparent right ankle injury, per AllDLLS.com.
Impact Shepard appeared to turn her right ankle before heading back to the locker room. If the All-Star center is unable to return, Li Yueru and Awak Kuier are candidates for increased playing time the rest of the way.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Aziaha James - Not starting Sunday James won't start Sunday's game against the Lynx.
Impact With Azzi Fudd (knee) sidelined Friday, James drew the spot start and dropped 13 points, albeit on inefficient shooting. Fudd will remain on the inactive list Sunday, though Odyssey Sims will get the starting nod over James. The second-year guard has averaged just 2.2 points and 1.2 rebounds in 6.0 minutes per contest over her last five appearances off the bench, though she'll likely continue to play meaningful minutes Sunday.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Odyssey Sims - Starting Sunday Sims is in the Wings' starting lineup against the Lynx on Sunday.
Impact Sims will make her ninth start of the season while Aziaha James reverts to a bench role for Sunday's matinee. Sims' last start took place July 20 against the Liberty, when she played 21 minutes and logged five points, two rebounds and one assist in a 99-98 loss.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Wizards are about to face what Hawks learned the hard way about Trae Young The Atlanta Hawks know the pitfalls of having Trae Young on a massive contract, and the Wizards are about to find out.
AUGUST 9 • SOARINGDOWNSOUTH.COM
Azzi Fudd - Questionable for Sunday Fudd (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game at Minnesota.
Impact Fudd could miss a second straight game -- and third overall this season -- with knee soreness. The Wings are taking a cautious approach and might not risk the first-overall pick in the 2026 WNBA Draft, so a decision will be made closer to tip-off. If Fudd is out, expect Azaiha James to continue seeing an uptick in playing time.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Alysha Clark - Ruled out for Sunday Clark (back) will remain on the sidelines for Sunday's game in Minnesota.
Impact This will be Clark's third consecutive game on the inactive list, and her minutes will be divvied up amongst Alanna Smith and Awak Kuier. For now, Clark should be considered questionable for Wednesday's meeting with the Tempo.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Alondes Williams signing hints at who the Wizards' last roster spot will go to After weeks of speculation, the Washington Wizards finally made a signing- albeit, not the one fans were looking for. Amid weeks of clamor f...
AUGUST 8 • WIZOFAWES.COM
Li Yueru - Scores seven points in loss Yueru finished Friday's 94-76 loss to the Valkyries with seven points (2-3 FG, 3-3 FT) and three rebounds in eight minutes.
Impact Yueru had one of her most productive games of the 2026 campaign Friday. However, the 27-year-old hasn't been much of a contributor and is now averaging just 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds over 10.0 minutes in 24 regular-season games.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Awak Kuier - Blocks two shots Friday Kuier contributed four points (1-1 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-2 FT), one rebound and two blocks over nine minutes during Friday's 94-76 loss to the Valkyries.
Impact Kuier has started in 16 regular-season games this season. However, she has now come off the bench in the Wings' last three contests. The 24-year-old averaged only 4.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 blocks over 16.5 minutes as a starter, so it's evident her role hasn't had much of an impact on her statistical contributions.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Maddy Siegrist - Another quiet game Friday Siegrist notched five points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds and one steal in 15 minutes during Friday's 94-76 loss to the Valkyries.
Impact Siegrist has now scored in the single digits in her last three appearances. The 26-year-old averaged a career-high 12.7 points in 2025. However, she has averaged just 6.1 during the 2026 campaign. Siegrist was slightly more productive in her six starts this season, though her outlook isn't favorable, especially if she continues to come off the bench.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Costanza Verona - Contract temporarily suspended Verona's contract was temporarily suspended by the Wings Saturday.
Impact Verona is signed to a developmental contract, so she has only appeared in one regular-season game for Dallas during the 2026 campaign. She will now head overseas, where she will suit up for the Italian National Team for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup. It's unknown whether Verona will be back with the Wings, though her departure will allow the team to sign another player to a developmental deal.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Odyssey Sims - Finishes with only three points Sims registered three points (0-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds and four assists across 24 minutes during Friday's 94-76 loss to Golden State.
Impact Sims led the bench in minutes, though she was still the lowest-scoring reserve. The 34-year-old, who last scored in double figures in the 86-69 loss to Atlanta on May 22, is having one of her most unproductive seasons since entering the WNBA in 2014. In 23 regular-season appearances during the 2026 campaign, Sims is now averaging 4.7 points and a career-low 2.1 assists over 14.2 minutes per contest.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Alanna Smith - Quality effort in loss Friday Smith closed with 11 points (2-6 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), six rebounds and one steal in 27 minutes during Friday's 94-76 loss to Golden State.
Impact Smith had a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double in Wednesday's 96-92 loss to Washington. Although she wasn't as productive Friday, it was still an above-average effort from the 29-year-old. Still, Smith's production continues to decline from year-to-year, and she is now averaging 5.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists over 15.6 minutes in 24 regular-season appearances during the 2026 campaign.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Arike Ogunbowale - Scores five points in loss Ogunbowale racked up five points (2-10 FG, 1-6 3Pt), four rebounds, one assist and two steals over 27 minutes during Friday's 94-76 loss to the Valkyries.
Impact Ogunbowale couldn't get anything going Friday and ended with her first single-digit scoring performance since amassing eight points in the 88-77 victory over the Liberty on July 7. It hasn't been a memorable 2026 campaign for the 29-year-old, who is averaging a career-low 14.8 points, 3.1 assists and 1.0 steals along with 3.2 rebounds over 29.7 minutes in 32 regular-season appearances.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Paige Bueckers - Another 17-point performance Bueckers recorded 17 points (6-12 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal in 29 minutes during Friday's 94-76 loss to the Valkyries.
Impact After ending with a season-low six points in the 83-63 win over the Sun on Sunday, Bueckers finished with 17 points for the second consecutive game. While she was more involved in other statistical areas and didn't commit a turnover in Wednesday's 96-92 loss to Washington, she was slightly more efficient shooting the ball Friday. Bueckers had a quality rookie year but has played even better in her second campaign, averaging 20.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.7 assists, all career highs, across 33.4 minutes in 30 regular-season appearances. The 24-year-old has also shot 39.4 percent from deep, a significant improvement from last season.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Aziaha James - Scores 13 points in spot start James supplied 13 points (3-12 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 7-11 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one block in 27 minutes during Friday's 94-76 loss to Golden State.
Impact Azzi Fudd (knee) was ruled out late after experiencing soreness during pregame warmups, resulting in James making her second start of the year. The 21-year-old made the most of her opportunity by hitting the double-digit scoring mark for the first time since the 112-110 victory over Seattle on June 22. James struggled shooting the ball, but overall, it was a better-than-average showing from the 2025 No. 12 overall pick, who may remain in the starting lineup moving ahead if Fudd misses more time.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Jessica Shepard - Cools off Friday Shepard totaled six points (2-7 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-4 FT), 11 rebounds and one assist across 26 minutes during Friday's 94-76 loss to the Valkyries.
Impact Shepard nearly had a triple-double in Wednesday's 96-92 loss to the Mystics. However, outside of her contributions on the glass, she was nowhere near as productive Friday and finished with her second single-digit scoring performance in the last five games. Still, Shepard, who was named an All-Star for the first time in 2026, is averaging a career-high 14.7 points, 11.7 rebounds and 5.3 assists over 33.1 minutes in 32 regular-season games.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Aziaha James - Starting sans Fudd James will start Friday's game against the Valkyries.
Impact With Azzi Fudd (knee) unavailable, James will draw her first start since June 13. The second-year guard posted 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals across 34 minutes in her last start this season.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Azzi Fudd - Ruled out Friday Fudd (knee) is listed as out for Friday's game versus Golden State.
Impact Fudd wasn't listed on the injury report throughout most of the day. However, after experiencing soreness during pregame warmups, the team will take the cautious approach and keep her out. Without Fudd, Aziaha James will enter the starting lineup for the first time since the 84-83 loss to Portland on June 13, a game which she finished with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals across 34 minutes.
AUGUST 8 • ROTOWIRE
Alysha Clark - Out again Friday Clark (back) is listed as out for Friday's game versus the Valkyries.
Impact Clark will now miss her second consecutive contest, with her next opportunity to get back on the court coming Sunday versus Minnesota. Since Clark hasn't seen consistent action of late, her absence won't significantly impact the rotation, though it could still allow Li Yueru and Awak Kuier to receive more playing time.
