Upgraded to questionable
Ball (ankle) has been upgraded to questionable ahead of Saturday's matchup with the Heat, Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Impact
Ball looks like he could make his season debut Saturday after being sidelined for approximately one month with a Grade 2 left ankle sprain. The Hornets have been quiet about his timetable to return, so the news that Ball may play Saturday comes as a relative surprising. Still, confirmation of his status will depend on how he feels closer to the game's 8 p.m. ET tipoff, and Ball will likely be facing a minutes restriction should he ultimately get the green light to play.

Won't play Thursday
Ball (ankle) won't play in Thursday's game against Miami, Walker Mehl of Locked On Hornets reports.
Impact
Coach Steve Clifford confirmed in his Wednesday postgame press conference that Ball will indeed be unable to return for at least one more contest. Although there aren't any indications as to when Ball will return to the lineup, it doesn't seem like the guard will be able to suit up for the team's next matchup Saturday against the Heat as well.

Out again Wednesday
Ball (ankle) has been ruled out for Wednesday's matchup against Portland.
Impact
Ball has yet to play this season due to an ankle injury. He'll likely be sidelined for the second half of Charlotte's back-to-back set Thursday as well, so the point guard's next chance to suit up will presumably come Saturday against Miami.

Remains out Monday
Ball (ankle) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Wizards.
Impact
Coach Steve Clifford said late last week that he believes Ball will be back in action soon, but the point guard will be unable to make his season debut against Washington on Monday. Dennis Smith (ankle) is questionable for Monday's matchup, and Theo Maledon and Terry Rozier would likely see increased run if Smith joins Ball on the list of inactive players.

Still out Saturday
Ball (ankle) won't play in Saturday's game versus the Nets, Rod Boone of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Impact
Ball is expected to rejoin the action relatively soon but will sit out at least one more contest Saturday. Terry Rozier (ankle) is considered questionable and could take over some on-ball duties from Dennis Smith if he returns, though Smith has played well of late in a starting role.

Expected to return soon
Coach Steve Clifford said Thursday that he believes the Hornets can get Ball (ankle) back in the next couple of days, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports.
Impact
Clifford added that Ball is "able to do a little bit of contact now" and was a full participant in shootaround. The 2020 No. 3 pick has yet to make his season debut due to a sprained left ankle but should be returning soon. Dennis Smith is likely to remain the starting point guard while Ball and Terry Rozier (ankle) are out.
