Lazaro Montes - Homers off bench Friday Montes went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-5 extra-inning loss to the Athletics.

Impact Montes hasn't found a ton of consistency at the plate so far, batting .240 across his first nine big-league games. He has tapped into some power with three homers and a double among his six hits, giving him eight RBI and four runs scored as well. Montes topped 30 homers both this year and in 2025 in the minors as he's made a quick ascent to the majors. He'll be in contention to be the Mariners' starting right fielder in 2027, but he could end up in a platoon role if his strikeout rate remains excessively high.

Julio Rodríguez - Clubs clutch three-run homer Rodriguez went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Rangers.

Impact Jacob deGrom dominated Texas over the first six innings of Thursday's matchup, but Seattle pounced in the seventh following deGrom's departure. Rodriguez came up with the big hit in that frame, belting a three-run shot to left-center field to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead. The long ball snapped a 14-game homerless stretch for Rodriguez, and he had been ice cold during that span, slashing just .153/.180/.203 with a 27.9 percent strikeout rate. He did steal four bases during that stretch, however, and with 21 homers and 20 thefts on the campaign, Rodriguez is one of seven big-leaguers to reach the 20/20 mark to this point in the season.

Impact Seattle stormed back from a three-run deficit by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, and Munoz entered in the top of the ninth tasked with holding the one-run lead. He threw only 11 of 25 pitches for strikes and issued consecutive two-out walks to put the tying and go-ahead runs on base, but the veteran closer recovered by getting Jake Burger to hit into a game-ending fielder's choice. Munoz notched a save for the second consecutive day and for the third time over the past five days. He's working on a five-game scoreless stretch, though Thursday's outing snapped a streak of 22 straight relief appearances in which he notched at least one punchout.

Logan Gilbert - Records 11 punchouts in victory Gilbert (12-9) earned the win over Texas on Thursday, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out 11 batters over seven innings.

Impact A two-run homer by Joc Pederson accounted for the bulk of the scoring against Gilbert, and the right-hander was down 3-0 when he threw his final pitch in the top of the seventh frame. However, Seattle stormed back for four runs in the bottom of that inning, putting Gilbert in position for the win. Gilbert ranks eighth in the majors with 187 strikeouts on the campaign, and he'll look to get closer to reaching 200 punchouts for the second time in his career the next time he takes the mound, which lines up to be a road matchup versus the Angels.
