Randy Vásquez - Drawing another start Vasquez is slated to start Thursday's game against the Rockies at Petco Park.
Impact The Padres returned Michael King from the injured list earlier this week, but with Nestor Cortes (biceps) still stuck on the shelf, Vasquez will get at least one more turn through the rotation. After being recalled from Triple-A El Paso last weekend, Vasquez delivered a quality start in the Padres' win over the Rockies at Coors Field, giving up three runs (two earned) on eight hits and no walks while striking out three over six innings. He'll take a 3.91 ERA and 1.38 WHIP into Thursday's rematch with the Rockies in San Diego.

Impact For a while it looked like Tatis' fifth-inning solo shot would hold up as the lone run of the contest, but the Reds struck for two tallies in the eighth to pull out the victory. Tatis has picked up his power a bit in September, swatting three long balls through nine games after going deep just once across 27 contests in August. Overall, he's at a relatively modest 21 home runs this season, though he's added 29 stolen bases, 63 RBI, 97 runs and an .801 OPS to provide well-rounded production.

Nick Pivetta - Sees splendid start go to waste Pivetta pitched seven scoreless innings against Cincinnati on Wednesday, allowing four hits and issuing one walk while striking out eight batters in a no-decision.
Impact Pivetta was brilliant against the Reds, limiting them to four harmless singles while throwing 73 of 101 pitches for strikes. The right-hander exited after the seventh frame with a 1-0 lead, but San Diego's bullpen gave up a pair of runs in the eighth, which both saddled Pivetta with a no-decision and handed the Padres a critical defeat. Pivetta has gone winless over his past four starts, but that's hardly his fault -- he also has three quality starts and a 26:7 K:BB across 25 frames during that span. Pivetta's next start is tentatively slated to be a road matchup in New York against the Mets.
