He continued to throw while he was away from the team and was able to build up to 27 pitches Friday. Darvish also said Friday that he's feeling good and his placement on the IL was just "a matter of ramping up." San Diego has a hole to fill in its rotation after optioning Matt Waldron to Triple-A El Paso on Thursday, but Darvish won't be able to step into that role until September.
