Griffin Canning - Injury is to left ankle The Mets stated after Canning was pulled from Thursday's game against Atlanta in the third inning that he's dealing with a left ankle injury.
Impact Canning collapsed to the ground and had to be assisted off the field by trainers after stepping awkwardly on the mound having completed 2.2 frames. In addition to clarifying that the hurler's injury is to his left ankle, the Mets also stated that Canning will undergo imaging. It's not certain at this point if Canning will have to miss his next start, but it certainly is a possibility given the details of his exit.

Griffin Canning - Departs game with apparent injury Canning was removed from Thursday's contest against Atlanta due to an apparent left foot injury, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Tredinnick notes that Canning's removal came after he took an "awkward step" at the base of the mound. The right-hander had been cruising prior to departing, striking out three batters and giving up just one hit over 2.2 scoreless frames. Canning needed help from Mets trainers to exit the field, but it will take further evaluation for the team to determine the extent of his injury.

Jesse Winker - Starting rehab assignment Sunday Winker (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Sunday, Andrew Tredinnick of The Bergen Record reports.
Impact Winker was officially cleared for rehab games after taking batting practice at Citi Field on Thursday. The 31-year-old is eligible for activation from the 60-day injured list July 4 and has a good shot to return on that date. Winker has been shelved since early May with a Grade 2 oblique strain. Upon his return, Winker should see plenty of action at designated hitter versus right-handed pitching.

Impact Vientos rejoined the team in New York on Thursday after playing seven rehab games at Triple-A Syracuse, during which he went 5-for-28 with six RBI and four runs scored. He'll receive an extra day off to rest before rejoining the active roster, at which point he'll likely take over as the Mets' primary DH while making an occasional start in the infield.
