Impact The Mets handed the right-hander a four-run lead in the bottom of the first inning on a Jesse Winker grand slam, but he nearly squandered it in the third. When Megill then gave up a leadoff single to begin the fifth, manager Carlos Mendoza went to his bullpen. Megill hasn't pitched terribly since rejoining the big-league rotation at the end of August, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 9:2 K:BB in 9.1 innings over two outings, but he's likely headed to the bullpen with Paul Blackburn (hand) on track to return early next week.

Impact Senga implied recently that he's past his left calf strain at this point and is now focused on getting his arm back in shape. It could be too late in the season to build him back up as a starter, but Senga has expressed a willingness to pitch in relief, if that's where the Mets would like to use him. It's not clear when he might be ready for a rehab assignment.

Impact Blackburn needed only 75 pitches to navigate through 6.2 innings. It should be the only rehab outing he needs before rejoining the Mets' rotation, although the exact date of his return hasn't been ironed out yet. Blackburn has missed the last two weeks of action with a right hand bruise.

Impact The shortstop opened the scoring in the third inning with a two-run shot off Kutter Crawford -- the only hit the Mets would manage off the right-hander through six innings before pulling away against the Boston bullpen. Lindor might be the favorite for the NL MVP Award in a lot of years, but Shohei Ohtani's quest for a 50-50 campaign likely makes any other performance moot. Even so, Lindor's numbers are hard to ignore -- he's four steals away from his own 30-30 season, and three runs shy of reaching triple digits for the fourth time in his career.

David Peterson - Racks up career-high 11 Ks Peterson (9-1) picked up the win Tuesday, allowing one run on six hits and a walk over six innings in a 7-2 victory over the Red Sox. He struck out 11.

Impact The 11 strikeouts were a career high for the southpaw, who generated an impressive 20 swinging strikes among his 89 pitches. Peterson has won four straight decisions and has six quality starts in seven trips to the mound since the beginning of August, posting a 1.81 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 38:14 K:BB through 44.2 innings over that stretch. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Toronto.
