David Festa - Throwing bullpen sessions Festa (shoulder) is throwing bullpen sessions still while other Twins pitchers are throwing live batting practice sessions, Bobby Nightengale of The Minneapolis Star-Tribune report...
Impact Festa had a compressed nerve near his pitching shoulder last season, and isn't yet at 100 percent intensity. He still has a chance to win a rotation spot, now that three slots are in competition following Pablo Lopez's elbow injury. Festa is competing against Taj Bradley, Simeon Woods Richardson, Zebby Matthews and Mick Abel for those spots.

Zebby Matthews - Potential fifth starter Matthews has a chance to win a rotation spot for the Twins this spring, and one more spot is now open in the wake of Pablo Lopez's elbow injury, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.
Impact Leach surmised that Taj Bradley and Simeon Woods Richardson were likely ahead of Matthews in the pecking order to begin spring training, but Lopez's injury now opens up a third spot in the rotation. Mick Abel and David Festa (shoulder) are also options for the Twins.
FEBRUARY 18 • ROTOWIRE
Taj Bradley - Likely rotation candidate Bradley has a good chance of winning a rotation spot for the Twins, Matthew Leach of MLB.com surmises.
Impact Bradley might have had an inside track at winning a job battle even before Pablo Lopez's elbow injury, but with three spots now open, the likelihood is even higher. Bradley is pitching in the World Baseball Classic, so some of his reps will be away from manager Derek Shelton's direct observations.
FEBRUARY 18 • ROTOWIRE
Simeon Woods Richardson - Competing for rotation spot Woods Richardson will be competing for a rotation spot this spring and is out of options, giving him a good chance of making the Twins out of spring training in some capacity, Matt...

Pablo López - Diagnosed with torn UCL Lopez has been diagnosed with a UCL tear in his right elbow and could require Tommy John surgery, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Impact Lopez will seek out a second opinion before a decision is made, but season-ending surgery is highly probable. The right-hander was limited to just 75.2 innings in 2025 due to shoulder and forearm issues and now faces the prospect of a year-plus long absence. Lopez is owed $21.75 million this season and will make the same amount in 2027 in his final year under contract.

FEBRUARY 16 • Associated Press
Royce Lewis - Works with personal hitting coach Lewis worked with a personal hitting coach, Jeremy Isenhower, this offseason on simplifying his pre-pitch mechanics, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.
Impact Isenhower was recommended to Lewis by Bobby Witt and former teammate Jorge Polanco, and Lewis made six different trips to Houston this offseason in order to work with Isenhower. The hope is that, by quieting his pre-pitch movement, Lewis should be able to improve his pitch recognition, swing decisions and quality of contact. After slashing .307/.364/.549 over 70 games in his first two major-league seasons, Lewis has hit a disappointing .235/.288/.416 in 188 contests since the start of the 2024 campaign. He'll be Minnesota's everyday third baseman again in 2026.

Pablo López - Undergoing MRI on sore elbow Lopez will undergo an MRI after cutting his live batting practice session short due to right elbow soreness, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact Lopez missed two months last season with a Grade 2 teres major strain and his campaign ended in late September due to a right forearm strain. He had an MRI at the time following the latter injury, which came back negative, but an early-camp setback is a troubling sign. The Twins should have the results of Lopez's MRI later this week.
