Willi Castro - Lined up to see bulk of 2B reps The Twins are currently likely to give most of the playing time at second base to Castro, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact As Hays notes, there's a decent chance the defensively versatile Castro will be needed elsewhere to cover for an injury, whether that's by Opening Day or at some point later on. However, the Twins are healthy right now on the position player side, and if that holds, Castro appears lined up to see most of the reps at second base. Brooks Lee, Edouard Julien and Mickey Gasper are also competing for playing time at the keystone.

Impact Julien is competing with Lee for the starting second base job with Willi Castro also likely to get time at the position. Julien could also get time at first base as well. Julien has struggled in the field this spring (2 errors at 2B, 1 at 1B), however. At this point it's still not clear what the Twins plan to do at second base, but Julien remains in the mix to win a roster spot and could still find playing time against right-handed pitching.

Impact Lee is competing with Edouard Julien for the starting second base job this spring with Willi Castro also likely to get time at the position. Lee is outperforming Julien so far this spring at the plate and Julien has struggled in the field (two errors Sunday). Erasmo Ramírez - Sent out of MLB camp The Twins reassigned Ramirez (shoulder) to minor-league camp Sunday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Impact As a non-roster invitee, Ramirez was already facing an uphill battle to win a spot in the Twins' Opening Day bullpen before he recently suffered a significant tear in his right shoulder. He'll likely report to Triple-A St. Paul but could be in store for a long-term stay on the injured list before making his 2025 debut.

Randy Dobnak - Cut from big-league camp The Twins reassigned Dobnak to minor-league camp Sunday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Impact Dobnak had been attending camp as a non-roster invitee, after the Twins had removed him from their 40-man roster following the 2024 season. The 30-year-old right-hander spent most of the past season at Triple-A St. Paul but made five relief appearances for Minnesota in the second half of the campaign, logging a 5.59 ERA and 1.66 WHIP over 9.2 innings. He's poised to once again serve as pitching depth at the Triple-A level in 2025 before likely heading into free agency next offseason, when Minnesota is expected to decline his $6 million team option for 2026.

Travis Adams - Misses out on Opening Day roster The Twins optioned Adams to minor-league camp Sunday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Impact Adams was added to the 40-man roster in November but wasn't a serious candidate to join the Twins for Opening Day. The 25-year-old righty will most likely open the 2025 season as a member of the Triple-A St. Paul rotation. Adams logged a 3.90 ERA and 118:35 K:BB in 127 innings between stops with St. Paul and Double-A Wichita in 2024.

Marco Raya - Sent to minor-league camp The Twins optioned Raya to minor-league camp Sunday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Impact Raya had been slowed early in spring training after suffering a quadricep strain, but he was cleared to make his Grapefruit League debut Saturday against the Red Sox. The 22-year-old right-hander was exceptionally wild in that outing, however, as he failed to record an out and was charged with five earned runs after hitting three batters and walking two others. He's expected to open the season in the rotation at Triple-A St. Paul.

Matt Canterino - Dispatched to minors The Twins optioned Canterino (shoulder) to minor-league camp Sunday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Impact Canterino made just one Grapefruit League appearance before suffering a right shoulder strain and getting shut down. He'll likely open the upcoming season on Triple-A St. Paul's injured list.

Emmanuel Rodriguez - Sent to minor-league camp The Twins optioned Rodriguez (ankle) to minor-league camp Sunday, Phil Miller of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.
Impact Rodriguez was among the first four players cut from big-league camp, after he failed to appear in any Grapefruit League games while he recovered from the left ankle sprain he suffered in the first half of February. The 22-year-old outfielder looks to be close to being fully cleared for game action, however, as he was able to take live batting practice Friday. Rodriguez shouldn't face any restrictions when Triple-A St. Paul opens its season March 28.

Impact Sands emerged as a solid contributor in a setup role last season. He saw a significant improvement in his velocity (to 95.5 mph average fastball from 93.6 mph in 2023) and improved control (1.5 BB/9). He'll be used as a key setup man again and could be a sneaky source of holds for fantasy purposes.

Impact Duran's velocity has been down this spring as he "only" reached 100.8 mph with his fastball on Saturday. He had reached 102.5 mph with his fastball in his first spring outing in 2023, for example, per Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic. His decline in velocity doesn't appear to be a major concern as his fastball is still elite and he could just be easing into spring training as a more established veteran. Duran is set to return as Minnesota's closer, but manager Rocco Baldelli often manages his bullpen without regard for the save statistic meaning Griffin Jax and others will get save chances if matchups call for another pitcher to finish the game.

Emmanuel Rodriguez - Takes live batting practice Rodriguez took live batting practice Friday for the first time since suffering a sprained ankle in early February and could play in a game with the next week, MLB.com reports.
Impact The 22-year-old outfielder also spent the offseason recovering from thumb surgery, so his return to live batting practice is a good sign. Durability has been, unfortunately, a constant concern for Rodriguez, who has yet to play 100 games in any pro season. The soon-to-be 22-year-old has been superb when on the field, having slashed .280/.459/.567 in 2024.

Ty France - Continues hot start to spring France went 2-for-3 with one home run, one double, four RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox.
Impact He had an RBI double off Aroldis Chapman in the fourth inning and later swatted a three-run homer off Josh Winckowski in the sixth. France inked a one-year, $1 million deal with the Twins back on Feb. 11 and has torn the cover off the ball eight games into spring training. Through 22 plate appearances, France is slashing .524/.565/1.000 with two long balls, four doubles, seven RBI, six runs scored and a pair of walks. Manager Rocco Baldelli has said France is viewed as Minnesota's starting first baseman going into the season, and it's "not a platoon situation."
