Gary Sánchez - Beginning rehab assignment Sanchez (calf) was sent to Triple-A Nashville on Friday to begin a rehab assignment, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact On July 10, manager Pat Murphy indicated that Sanchez was initially expected to miss 12 weeks due to the strained left calf the catcher suffered June 25, but Sanchez is well ahead of schedule. Sanchez's rehab assignment comes three and a half weeks after the injury, and while he'll likely be eased into catching duties, he could be activated in late July or early August.

Abner Uribe - Out for rest of season Uribe underwent surgery on his right knee Wednesday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Uribe's return timeline had been uncertain heading into the operation, though he's now been ruled out for the remainder of the 2024 campaign and hopes to be ready for the start of spring training. The 24-year-old reliever will finish the year with a 6.91 ERA and 1.88 WHIP across 14.1 innings in the majors.

Oliver Dunn - Moves to 60-day IL The Brewers transferred Dunn (back) from the 10-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Dunn hasn't played at any level since June 12, with his last appearance coming with the Brewers before he was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on June 19. The Brewers later revoked the transaction June 27, instead placing him on their 10-day injured list with a back strain. Though Brewers manager Pat Murphy said after Dunn's placement on the 10-day IL that the utility infielder would be sidelined for at least one month, the 26-year-old's move to the 60-day IL now indicates that Milwaukee is preparing for him to miss at least two months. In a corresponding move, Brewers selected the contract of outfielder Brewer Hicklen to take Dunn's spot on the 40-man roster.

Brewer Hicklen - Added to 40-man roster The Brewers selected Hicklen's contract and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Though he won't receive a promotion to the big leagues coming out of the All-Star break, Hicklen's addition to Milwaukee's 40-man roster at least removes a potential obstacle in him getting a call-up at a later date. The 28-year-old outfielder has been one of the top performers at Nashville this season, slashing .270/.383/.571 with 19 home runs and 26 stolen bases across 313 plate appearances.

Jared Koenig - Kicking off rehab assignment Friday Koenig (elbow) will make a rehab appearance with Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Koenig was placed on the 15-day injured list June 29 with left forearm tendinitis, but he looks to be progressing quickly after tossing a bullpen session Thursday and a multi-inning simulated game Sunday. The Brewers will reassess Koenig's status after Friday's rehab appearance, but he may need just the one outing with Nashville before returning to the big-league bullpen.

Joe Ross - Another rehab start coming Friday Ross (back) is scheduled to make the third start of his rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Nashville, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Ross' upcoming start with Nashville could be his last before he returns from the 60-day injured list. He built up to 3.2 innings and 46 pitches in his latest start with Nashville on Wednesday, so Ross will likely be targeted for around 60-to-75 pitches in his upcoming outing. After designating Dallas Keuchel for assignment Sunday, Milwaukee has an opening in its rotation that would next need to be filled July 24 versus the Cubs. If Friday's rehab start goes well, Ross could be part of the Brewers' plans for the July 24 game as a starter or bulk reliever.

Devin Williams - Dazzles in first rehab outing Williams (back) struck out all three batters he faced in a perfect inning during his rehab appearance Sunday with High-A Wisconsin.
Impact Williams has been on the shelf all season while recovering from a pair of stress fractures in his back, but he didn't exhibit any signs of rust in his first game action of 2024. He needed just 14 pitches to strike out the side and generated four swings and misses during his brief time on the mound. The Brewers may have Williams shift his rehab assignment to Double-A Biloxi or Triple-A Nashville for a tougher test following the All-Star break, but the right-hander may not require too many more tune-up outings in the minors if he continues to look as sharp as he did Sunday. Williams should eventually supplant Trevor Megill as the Brewers' preferred option to close games once he's reinstated from the 60-day injured list.

DL Hall - Will get stretched out in minors Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said Sunday that Hall (knee/forearm) will continue to get stretched out for starting duty once he resumes his rehab assignment with Triple-A Nas...
Impact Hall has had his rehab assignment at Nashville shut down on two occasions, with the latest being the result of a bruised left forearm suffered when he was struck by a line drive Tuesday. Though Hall avoided structural damage to his pitching arm, he remains shut down from throwing but should be able to resume ramping up within a few days. Hall could still be a week or more away from resuming his assignment, however, which makes it unlikely that he'll be ready to return from the 60-day injured list before the end of July. Hall had previously covered between two and three innings in his last four rehab starts with Nashville while maxing out at 62 pitches.

Brice Turang - Reaches 30-steal mark Turang went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Nationals.
Impact Turang has struggled at the plate in July, going 9-for-48 (.188) over his first 13 games this month. That's also put a damper on his best attribute, his speed, as he's been able to log just two steals on three attempts in that span. Turang has 30 thefts on 35 attempts this year -- good for second in the majors behind only the Reds' Elly De La Cruz -- while adding six home runs, 38 RBI, 45 runs scored and a .277/.341/.390 slash line through 93 contests.
JULY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
William Contreras - Lifts 11th homer Contreras went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and two total runs scored in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Nationals.
Impact Contreras went 0-for-10 over his previous three games. He was able to snap the slump in his second at-bat Sunday with his solo shot, which put the Brewers ahead 2-1 in the third inning. The All-Star catcher has had few quiet stretches this year. He's now at a .286/.352/.440 slash line with 11 homers, 55 RBI, 65 runs scored, 23 doubles and five stolen bases over 93 games.
JULY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Garrett Mitchell - Busy in Sunday's win Mitchell went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, a walk and a stolen base in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Nationals.
Impact Mitchell entered Sunday without a homer or a steal before getting one of each in this contest. The outfielder is hitting just .192 with three RBI and two runs scored over his first 10 games of the season after missing the first three months of the year with a fractured finger. He has been limited to a strong-side platoon role so far, sharing center field with switch hitter Blake Perkins.
JULY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Willy Adames - Homers in four-hit game Adames went 4-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, a walk, two additional RBI and two total runs scored in Sunday's 9-3 win over the Nationals.
Impact Adames has gone 9-for-21 (.429) with nine RBI over his last five games. The shortstop had his fingerprints all over this game, which saw him open the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning. He also wrapped up the offense with his eighth-inning homer. For the season, Adames is slashing .246/.330/.430 with 15 homers, 67 RBI, 52 runs scored, 12 stolen bases and 23 doubles across 97 games.
JULY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Colin Rea - Earns win in bulk-relief role Rea (9-3) allowed two runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven over 5.2 innings to earn the win Sunday over the Nationals.
Impact Rea was lit up for seven runs over five innings in his last start, so the Brewers opted to have him work behind an opener Sunday. The plan worked, as he turned in a strong performance, with the seven strikeouts being one shy of his season high. The 34-year-old has put up decent numbers this year with a 3.77 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 76:31 K:BB over 105 innings across 19 appearances (16 starts). Rea should remain in the Brewers' rotation following the All-Star break, though it's unclear if he'll resume working as a traditional starter or end up pitching behind an opener more often in the second half.
