Tyler Black - Added to taxi squad Black has been added to the Brewers' taxi squad as injury protection for Blake Perkins (calf), Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Black is with the club at American Family Field on Monday but has not been added to the active roster. The Brewers seem hopeful that Perkins can avoid the injured list, but Black is around in case the injury lingers and a roster move is required. Black is 8-for-34 at the plate in 12 games with Milwaukee this season.

Blake Perkins - Nursing calf issue Perkins is likely unavailable off the bench Monday due to a calf issue, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Perkins evidently tweaked his calf during Sunday's loss to the Reds. The Brewers have added Tyler Black to the taxi squad in case Perkins needs a stint on the injured list, but the team seems hopeful at this point that it's a day-to-day situation.

Impact Hudson wound up missing just a couple weeks of action with a strained left oblique. The left-handed reliever has been quite a find in the Brewers' bullpen this season with a 1.60 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 50.2 innings. He'll return to a high-leverage role.

DL Hall - Sent back to minors The Brewers optioned Hall to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
Impact Hall looked pretty good in a spot start Sunday versus the Reds, striking out a career-high nine batters while allowing three runs over 4.2 innings. However, the Brewers will stick with five starters and keep Hall stretched out at Nashville. The Brewers have a doubleheader against the Reds on Aug. 30, so Hall could be back at that time, if not before.

Impact Ortiz got the scoring started Sunday, tagging Nick Lodolo for a two-run homer in the second inning. The long ball was Ortiz's eighth of the season, and the third baseman appears to finally be breaking out of his slump, going 9-for-24 with four extra-base hits during his last six games.

DL Hall - Falls off late Hall didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Reds, allowing three runs on five hits and three walks across 4.2 innings. He struck out nine.
Impact Hall made his first big-league appearance since going on the shelf in late April with a sprained left knee and came out firing. Through three scoreless innings, Hall had punched out six batters, but he got a little wild in the fourth frame. He allowed Spencer Steer to steal a base on a wild pitch, walked Stuart Fairchild on six pitches and hit TJ Freidl with a pitch as part of a two-run inning for Cincinnati. He bounced back by retiring the first two batters of the fifth frame but was yanked after surrendering a solo homer to Tyler Stephenson and handing out a walk to Steer. Unless the Brewers expand to a six-man rotation, expect the 25-year-old Hall to be moved to the bullpen.

DL Hall - Activated, starting Sunday The Brewers reinstated Hall (knee) from the 60-day injured list Sunday, and he'll start in Milwaukee's series finale with Cincinnati.
Impact Milwaukee already has five healthy starters, so unless manager Pat Murphy plans to expand the rotation to six men, Hall could be headed to the bullpen following Sunday's outing, which will be his first with the big club since April 20. Before landing on the IL with as left knee sprain, Hall's spot in the rotation may have already been on thin ice, as he submitted a 7.71 ERA and 2.27 WHIP across 16.1 innings over his four starts with the big club this season. The left-hander displayed better form over the final three outings of his rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville, logging a 2.77 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 12:6 K:BB across 13 innings. Hall topped out at five innings and 76 pitches during his rehab assignment, so he shouldn't be operating under any workload restrictions Sunday.
