Kyle Stowers - Out of Miami lineup Stowers is not in the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta.
Impact Atlanta is going with a lefty opener in Ray Kerr, so the left-handed-hitting Stowers will retreat to the bench for the second day in a row. He came off the bench as a pinch hitter in Thursday's tilt versus the Cubs and is a candidate to enter mid-game again. Deyvison De Los Santos will cover first base, and Agustin Ramirez will slot in at designated hitter for Miami.

The Brewers Won 100 Games For The 1st Time (And These 5 Teams Still Never Have)
Jack Ralston - Charged with second loss Ralston (0-2) earned the loss after allowing two runs on three hits over 1.1 innings. He struck out two.
Impact Ralston came on in relief of Tyler Phillips and allowed the game-tying and eventual game-winning runs. Seiya Suzuki blasted a home run off the right-hander, and then Nico Hoerner lined a go-ahead single in the sixth. In 15 appearances this season, Ralston owns a 4.50 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 17:8 K:BB over 16 innings.

Tyler Phillips - Throws four scoreless innings Phillips did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Cubs, allowing no runs on three hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out two.
Impact Phillips recorded his second consecutive scoreless outing Thursday against Chicago. The 28-year-old has posted solid numbers over his last seven games, with a 2.25 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 25:16 K:BB over 28 innings. Phillips exited the game with his team leading before Jack Ralston entered in relief and allowed two runs. If this is the right-hander's final start of the campaign, his final numbers will be a 5-6 record, 3.34 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 101:56 K:BB over 126.2 innings.

Alcantara not making final start Saturday; Marlins managing workload CHICAGO – Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara will not make his final start of the season this Saturday, manager Clayton McCullough announced.
SEPTEMBER 24 • MLB.COM
Sandy Alcantara - Won't make start this weekend Marlins manager Clayton McCullough said Thursday that Alcantara will not make a start this weekend against Atlanta, Stephen Strom of Marlins Radio Network reports.
Impact Alcantara had been penciled in to take the ball Saturday in the Marlins' final regular-season series, but the club has decided against having the righty make another start. The right-hander has notched two saves over the past week, as the Marlins have used him in relief on his throw days, and Alcantara will be available out of the bullpen this weekend. Alcantara has logged a league-high 213 innings this season and tied a career high with 33 starts.

Joe Mack - Exiting starting lineup Mack is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Cubs.
Impact Mack did the catching Wednesday night, so he'll get some rest during Thursday's matinee. Brian Navarreto will handle the catching duties for the Marlins.
SEPTEMBER 24 • ROTOWIRE
Kyle Stowers - Sitting out versus left-hander Stowers is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Cubs.
Impact Stowers homered in each of the first two games of the series, but he'll retreat to the bench for Thursday's finale. Deyvision De Los Santos will cover first base, and Agustin Ramirez will slot in at designated hitter as the Marlins go for the sweep.
SEPTEMBER 24 • ROTOWIRE
Xavier Edwards - Remains out of lineup Edwards (thumb) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's contest versus the Cubs.
Impact It marks the fourth consecutive absence for Edwards, who is recovering from left thumb discomfort. It's an aggravation of an injury that caused him to miss the first couple weeks of September, so it's no guarantee Edwards will come back to play this season. Jared Serna will cover second back for the Marlins on Thursday.

Marlins prevent Cubs from clinching a playoff spot again with a 3-2 victory

Kyle Stowers homered and the Miami Marlins prevented the Chicago Cubs from clinching a playoff berth for the second straight night with a 3-2 victory Wednesday
SEPTEMBER 24 • Associated Press
Kyle Stowers - Cranks two-run homer Stowers went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Cubs.
Impact Stowers pushed his hitting streak up to four games with the homer. The slugging first baseman has now left the yard in back-to-back games as he tries to end a somewhat disappointing campaign for Miami on a high note. After submitting a .912 OPS for the Marlins in 2025, Stowers is slashing .240/.331/.460 with 21 long balls, 65 RBI and 57 runs scored over 511 plate appearances in 2026.
SEPTEMBER 24 • ROTOWIRE
Sandy Alcantara - Locks down second save Alcantara notched the save Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing one hit and no walks in a scoreless ninth inning.
Impact The Marlins deployed Alcantara as their closer for the second time this month, and the hurler induced a game-ending double play to seal it for Miami. The right-hander threw just 12 pitches Wednesday, so he remains firmly on track to take his next and final turn in the rotation Saturday against Atlanta. He has a 3.89 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 152:59 K:BB across 213 innings, converting both of his save opportunities as well.
