INJURIES

Picks up first win of season Fedde (1-0) collected the win Friday in a 7-2 victory over the Pirates, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out six.
Impact The right-hander needed 96 pitches (59 strikes) to get through the minimum five frames to qualify for a win, but that was about the only suspense on a night the Nationals never trailed. Fedde has had a solid start to the season, posting a 3.60 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 11:4 K:BB through his first 10 innings, and he gets another favorable matchup in his next scheduled start Tuesday, at home against the Diamondbacks.

Fans five in no-decision Fedde allowed two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five over five innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Sunday.
Impact Fedde served up a homer to Francisco Lindor in the fourth and allowed an RBI single to Mark Canha later in that same frame, but the right-hander kept New York off the board in his other four innings of work. He racked up five strikeouts on the strength of 12 swinging strikes. Fedde is in line for a favorable road matchup in Pittsburgh next week, but remember this is a pitcher with a career WHIP pushing 1.50.

Cleared to start Tuesday Fedde (oblique) is scheduled to start Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact Fedde will take the hill for the Nationals' exhibition finale after he experienced no renewed soreness with his right oblique coming out of Sunday's bullpen session. The right-hander has made only two Grapefruit League starts to date and topped out at 2.2 innings in his most recent outing March 26, so the Nationals will likely have him stretch out a little longer Tuesday for his final tuneup in advance of Opening Day. If all goes well, Fedde could get the ball five days later in the finale of the Nationals' season-opening series with the Mets in Washington.
APRIL 4, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Set for bullpen session Nationals manager Dave Martinez said that Fedde (oblique) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post reports.
Impact If all goes well during Sunday's throwing session, Fedde will get the green light to start Tuesday's exhibition finale against the Mets, which would clear the way for the right-hander to avoid the injured list and break camp as a member of Washington's rotation. Fedde hasn't made a Grapefruit League appearance since March 26 due to a sore right oblique.

MRI results encouraging Fedde said Saturday that his MRI on his right oblique came back "pretty clean," Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Fedde was scratched from his scheduled start against the Mets on Thursday due to side soreness, but he doesn't appear to be dealing with a significant injury. He'll play catch Saturday before determining the next steps in his recovery process. Although the right-hander hasn't ruled out pitching during his first turn through the rotation, he said that he won't rush back if doing so could make the issue worse.
APRIL 2, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Slated for MRI Fedde will undergo an MRI on his right side after being scratched from Thursday's Grapefruit League start, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact The Nationals aren't too concerned about Fedde's side issue, but he'll still undergo further examination as a precaution. As long as his MRI comes back clean, he could throw a live BP within the next few days and make another appearance in an exhibition game prior to the end of spring training.
MARCH 31, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Scratched from Thursday's start Fedde was scratched from Thursday's scheduled start against the Mets after experiencing tightness in his right side, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Fedde has had a strong start to camp, as he tossed 4.2 scoreless innings across his first two Grapefruit League starts of the year. Josh Rogers will take his place as the starter in Thursday's matchup, and it's not yet clear how long Fedde will be sidelined or whether he'll make another spring appearance prior to the start of the regular season.
MARCH 31, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Solid start to spring Fedde allowed one hit over 2.2 scoreless innings in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Mets. He struck out two and walked two.
Impact The right-hander is expected to hold down a spot in a Nationals rotation that is a shadow of its former self, and so far this spring Fedde isn't doing anything to jeopardize that assignment. Through 4.2 innings over two outings, he has yet to give up a run, though his 3:3 K:BB isn't exactly dominant. Fedde's numbers in the big leagues are just as marginal, but he did post career bests in strikeout rate (21.7 percent) and walk rate (8.1 percent) last season, so the 29-year-old may be able to take another step forward in 2022.
MARCH 27, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Gets over $2 million Fedde signed a one-year, $2.15 million contract Tuesday, Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Fedde finally reached arbitration eligibility in his fifth big-league season last year and will receive a fairly substantial raise as a result. That raise comes despite the fact that he struggled to a 5.47 ERA in 133.1 innings last season.

Nats new bopper Cruz makes immediate impact with pitcher tip

Lasts 4.2 innings in no-decision Fedde didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the White Sox after allowing five runs on seven hits and three walks across 4.2 innings, fanning one. He also hit a batter.
Impact Fedde was just one out away from completing five frames, something he'd done in each of his previous three outings. However, the results have been far from encouraging since he has given up four or more earned runs in three of his last five appearances. The 28-year-old owns a 6.08 ERA across five appearances this month.

Pitches five innings Fedde tossed five innings giving up four runs (two earned) on fours hits while striking out five in Monday's loss to the Marlins. He did not factor into the game's decision.
Impact The right-hander surrendered three home runs in this one, the last of which was a solo shot to Jazz Chisholm in the fifth inning. It was his second start with three homers allowed in his last three outings and he has been taken deep in five in a row. Over those five starts, Fedde has posted a 5.92 ERA and allowed nine home runs. He is projected to face the Reds in his next start Saturday.
