Loses grip on rotation spot

Impact
Rather than expanding the rotation to six or demoting struggling rookie Noah Schultz to the minors, the White Sox will instead send Fedde to the bullpen to keep a five-man starting staff intact. Fedde had been part of the rotation all season, but he's already made 10 of his 22 appearances out of the bullpen while the White Sox have frequently deployed him in bulk relief behind an opener. The veteran righty has gone 6-6 with a 4.13 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 74:36 K:BB in 102.1 innings this season.

Collects sixth win of 2026
Fedde (6-6) earned the win against the Rays on Friday, allowing one run on four hits while striking out six across five innings. He did not issue a walk.
Impact
Fedde generated only four whiffs and three groundouts on 91 pitches Friday, but he kept the Rays in check outside of a solo homer from Junior Caminero in the fourth inning. It was the first time since July 5 that Fedde completed five frames, and the veteran right-hander sports a 4.13 ERA and 1.37 WHIP over 102.1 innings this season. He's slated to take on the Red Sox next week at Fenway Park.

Tagged by three homers
Fedde did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Astros, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over 4.1 innings.
Impact
Fedde was hurt by the long ball Sunday, surrendering three home runs. Jeremy Pena took him deep twice, including a leadoff blast to begin the game, while Taylor Trammell added a solo shot of his own in the fifth inning. It marked the first time since May 12 that Fedde had allowed multiple home runs in a start. Following a 5.40 ERA and 0-5 record through his first 11 starts, Fedde has now gone 5-1 with a 2.93 ERA over his last 10 outings. He's scheduled to make his next start Friday on the road against the Rays.

Goes four frames Monday
Fedde completed four innings in a no-decision against Texas on Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and no walks while striking out six batters.
Impact
Though he didn't go very deep, Fedde was decently effective, racking up six punchouts and retiring the final eight batters he faced. The veteran right-hander has logged five or fewer frames in nine of his past 10 outings, but that approach seems to be working for him -- he's posted a 2.68 ERA while going 5-1 with a 35:15 K:BB across 43.2 innings during that span. Fedde has worked as both a traditional starter and a bulk reliever throughout the campaign, and though he doesn't have the most overpowering stuff, recent results suggest Chicago is getting the most out of the hurler by astutely managing how he is used.

Nabs win in bulk relief
Fedde (5-6) picked up the win in Saturday's 1-0 victory over the A's, allowing two hits and one walk over four scoreless innings of relief. He struck out three.
Impact
Entering the game to begin the third inning after opener Bryan Hudson and Chris Murphy had worked a frame each, Fedde kept the combined shutout going over 55 pitches (33 strikes). The veteran right-hander has found success in a sheltered bulk relief role, and since the beginning of June he's delivered a 2.27 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 26:12 K:BB through 35.2 innings over eight outings.

Likely to fill bulk-relief role
Fedde is expected to work in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Bryan Hudson in Saturday's game against the Athletics, Brooke Fletcher of Chicago Sports Network reports.
Impact
Fedde remains part of Chicago's rotation, but he's been used as a traditional starter just once in his last six outings. Hudson is expected to cover an inning or two before turning the game over to Fedde, who owns a 4.20 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and 29:17 K:BB in 40.2 innings out of the bullpen this season.

Works around trouble in fourth win
Fedde (4-6) notched the win Sunday against the Guardians, allowing three runs (two earned) on eight hits and one walk in 5.1 innings of relief. He struck out four.
Impact
A fielding error by Colston Montgomery kept an earned run off Fedde's line in the fifth inning in what was the hurler's longest outing since April 29 against the Angels. The 33-year-old right-hander hasn't been particularly effective at missing bats in 2026, fanning more than four on just one occasion through 18 appearances. Fedde will bring a pedestrian 4.34 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 57:34 K:BB over 85 innings into his next scheduled outing against the Athletics.

Working in bulk relief Sunday
Fedde is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Chris Murphy in Sunday's game against the Guardians, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Impact
On Saturday, the Guardians lineup featured left-handed hitters or switch hitters in the top seven spots, so the White Sox will have the left-handed Murphy open the series finale with the aim of forcing Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt to adjust his batting order. Murphy will likely work the first inning or two before handing the ball over to the right-handed Fedde, who owns a 4.33 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over his eight appearances out of the bullpen this season.

Plenty of support in third win
Fedde (3-6) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings in a 9-3 victory over the Orioles. He struck out three.
Impact
It wasn't a particularly sharp performance from the right-hander, who tossed 54 of 90 pitches for strikes, but the White Sox backed Fedde with a seven-run third inning that decided the game early. It's the first time in four outings that Fedde has lasted five innings and he hasn't served up a homer in any of them, posting a 3.31 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 13:9 K:BB over 16.1 innings during that stretch. He'll look to build on this effort in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come on the road this weekend in Cleveland.

Avoids serious damage in bulk role
Fedde didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Guardians, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks over four innings of relie...
Impact
Working behind opener Chris Murphy, Fedde dealt with traffic on the basepaths in every frame he was on the mound for, but the veteran right-hander was able to keep Cleveland off the board until finally buckling in the sixth inning and getting lifted after 75 pitches (44 strikes). Fedde was on the hook for his seventh loss of 2026, but he escaped when the White Sox tied it up in the ninth off Guardians closer Cade Smith. Fedde has been stingy over five appearances (one start) in June, posting a 1.69 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 16:7 K:BB through 21.1 innings. His next turn through the rotation, either as a traditional starter or bulk reliever, is scheduled to come on the road early next week in Baltimore.
