Dane Myers - In Tuesday's lineup
Myers (illness) is starting in center field and batting leadoff Tuesday against the Royals.
Impact
The 30-year-old was scratched from the lineup Saturday due to an illness and also sat out of Sunday's and Monday's contests, but he's good to go Tuesday against Kansas City lefty Noah Cameron. Myers has been solid as a short-side platoon player this year with three homers, two steals and a .749 OPS in 96 plate appearances.

Lyon Richardson - DFA'd by Reds
The Reds designated Richardson for assignment Tuesday.
Impact
Richardson served as the opener Monday versus Kansas City and took the loss after surrendering four runs over one inning, and he's now been removed from both the 26-man and 40-man rosters. Brandon Leibrandt was also DFA'd, opening up roster space for the promotions of Zach McCambley and Luis Mey.

Impact
The left-hander had his contract selected from Triple-A Louisville on Monday and was immediately called upon to cover six innings out of the bullpen. Leibrandt gave up five runs on 10 hits and three walks with six strikeouts. It was the 33-year-old's first big-league appearance since 2024.

Brandon Leibrandt - Pitches six innings in relief
Leibrandt pitched six innings out of the bullpen in Monday's loss to the Royals, allowing five runs on 10 hits and three walks. He struck out three.
Impact
Leibrandt was added to the Reds' bullpen just before Monday's game, and he ended up pitching six innings and tossing 99 pitches (60 strikes). The results weren't encouraging, but Cincinnati was trailing by multiple runs for Leibrandt's entire six-inning outing. This was his first big-league appearance since 2024. He posted a 5.23 ERA and 38:14 K:BB over 51.2 innings covering 11 starts with Triple-A Louisville before getting promoted.

Lyon Richardson - Allows four runs as opener
Richardson (0-1) was tagged with the loss Monday against the Royals after allowing four runs on one hit and two walks in one inning of work. He also struck out two.
Impact
Richardson was facing a two-out, bases-loaded situation when Lane Thomas smashed a 106.3 mph missile into left center field to give the Royals an advantage they'd never relinquish. Richardson was removed after that first inning, and now his ERA sits at 27.00 after just two big-league appearances this year. In 1.2 innings of work, he's given up five earned runs and two homers with a 3:2 K:BB.

Impact
Burns came down with a fever overnight, and though the Reds are expecting his symptoms to subside quickly, he'll be given a couple extra days to rest up and recuperate. The Reds will opt for a bullpen game Monday, with right-hander Lyon Richardson opening the contest and expected to cover the first two or three innings before exiting.

Elly De La Cruz - Likely to miss 2-to-4 weeks
Reds manager Terry Francona said Monday that an MRI on De La Cruz's right hamstring showed between a Grade 1 and Grade 2 strain, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Impact
De La Cruz was placed on the 10-day injured list earlier Monday for the first time in his major-league career. He could get another MRI in a couple weeks to check the status of his progress, but early indications are that De La Cruz will likely be sidelined for 2-to-4 weeks. Matt McLain is drawing the start at shortstop for Cincinnati in Monday's game versus the Royals, and Edwin Arroyo is making his major-league debut at second base.

T.J. Friedl - Idle for second straight game
Friedl is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Royals.
Impact
Friedl resurfaced in the Cincinnati lineup for three straight starts late last week, but despite reaching base in three of his eight plate appearances during that stretch, manager Terry Francona will send the outfielder to the bench for a second straight matchup versus a right-hander. With Friedl taking a seat, the Reds will be able to reopen a spot in the middle infield for Matt McLain, while Spencer Steer shifts to the outfield after manning the keystone in Sunday's win over Atlanta.

Lyon Richardson - Drawing short-notice start
The Reds announced that Richardson will serve as their opening pitcher for Monday's game against the Royals.
Impact
With Chase Burns (illness) being scratched from his scheduled turn through the rotation on short notice, the Reds will turn to Richardson to make his first big-league start since 2023. Prior to being promoted from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday, Richardson has worked between two and three innings in nine of his 18 appearances in the minors this season, so he should be capable of providing a little more length than the typical opener. That said, Richardson isn't expected to work deep into Monday's contest, so the Reds could count on new call-up Brandon Leibrandt -- who had been starting with Louisville -- to cover multiple innings out of the bullpen.

Edwin Arroyo - Hitting eighth in MLB debut
Arroyo will start at second base and bat eighth in his major-league debut Monday against the Royals.
Impact
Arroyo was called up earlier Monday to take the roster spot of the injured Elly De La Cruz (hamstring). It will be Matt McLain sliding over to shortstop Monday to cover for Cruz, while Arroyo will settle in at McLain's old second-base spot. Arroyo earned a promotion after hitting .323/.383/.562 with 11 home runs and nine stolen bases for Louisville.
