Hit hard by Twins Singer (1-3) took the loss Saturday as the Royals fell 7-2 to the Twins, giving up four runs on six hits over four innings. He struck out three.
Impact Four of the six hits off the rookie went for extra bases, including homers by Eddie Rosario and Miguel Sano that accounted for all the scoring against Singer. The 24-year-old right-hander has now served up seven long balls in his first 29.2 big-league innings, and while his 27:12 K:BB isn't terrible, he'll need to figure out how to keep the ball in the park if he's going to reach his full potential. Singer faces another dangerous offense in his next outing Friday, on the road against the White Sox.

Impact After getting through his first two innings unscathed, Singer gifted the Royals a run in the third, as a walk, wild pitch and balk led to an RBI groundout for Jorge Polanco. The right-handed Singer was bit by a walk again two innings later, as a leadoff free pass preceded a go-ahead two-run homer for Max Kepler. Impact Singer was staked to an early lead, and he held the Twins offense in check to earn his first major-league victory. He wasn't particularly dominant, as he allowed seven baserunners while generating only eight swinging strikes on 95 pitches. Still, he retired the Twins in order on two occasions and only allowed one extra-base hit. Through four starts, Singer has generated 22 strikeouts across 20 innings while maintaining a 4.50 ERA and 1.30 WHIP.
