Posts another dominant outing Snell did not factor into the decision in Sunday's win over the Athletics, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out 10 over seven innings.

Impact Snell was engaged in a pitcher's duel with J.P. Sears for much of the game. The first run was eventually scored by the Athletics in the sixth inning and that's all Snell would give up. He did find himself in a bases loaded jam in the seventh with one out but was able to get out of it unharmed. Over his last eight starts, Snell has posted a 1.03 ERA, 0.69 WHIP and 70:16 K:BB in 52.1 innings. He leads MLB starting pitchers in ERA and is tied for first in WHIP over that span. Snell also has double-digit strikeouts in four of his last five starts. For the year, the 31-year-old owns a 3.67 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 101:30 K:BB in 76 innings. He lines up for a home matchup against the Mariners his next time out.

Fans 11 in another quality start Snell pitched 6.1 scoreless innings against Atlanta on Monday, allowing two hits and walking three batters while striking out 11.

Impact Snell's excellence was on par with that of opposing starter Chris Sale, who fired seven scoreless frames with 12 punchouts. Snell didn't go quite as deep into the contest as Sale due to his 114 pitches, but he nonetheless recorded his sixth straight quality start after failing to accomplish that feat over his initial seven contests of the campaign. Snell struggled to begin his tenure with San Francisco and then missed over a month from early June to early July due to a groin strain. Since returning from that injury, the southpaw has been dominant, posting a 0.99 ERA, 0.62 WHIP and 60:14 K:BB over 45.1 frames.

Impact The veteran lefty stumbled a bit in the third inning, allowing all three of his runs including a two-run shot by Juan Yepez, but otherwise Snell had little trouble with the Washington lineup and generated 32 called or swinging strikes among his 93 pitches. It was a strong follow-up performance to his no-hitter against the Reds on Aug. 2, and Snell has reeled off five straight quality starts with a 1.32 ERA, 0.56 WHIP and 46:8 K:BB through 34 innings during that hot streak. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come at home early next week against Atlanta.
