INJURIES

Status for Opening Day uncertain Manager Dave Roberts acknowledged Monday that Snell (shoulder) is uncertain to be part of the Dodgers' Opening Day rotation while the left-hander remains limited to throwing off fl...
Impact Snell hasn't experienced any reported setbacks on the health front since the start of spring training, but the Dodgers are taking a deliberate approach with him during camp after he missed extensive time last season due to shoulder problems. He would still appear to be at least a couple weeks away from making his Cactus League debut, given that he'll need to throw multiple bullpen sessions and face hitters in live batting practice before being cleared to pitch in a game setting. So long as Snell is able to reach those checkpoints by around early-to-mid-March, any potential stint on the IL to begin the season would likely be abbreviated.

Yet to throw off mound Manager Dave Roberts stated Monday that Snell has yet to take part in any mound work, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Snell has reportedly been cleared to play catch and begin a throwing program, but the Dodgers won't have an accurate idea on if he'll begin the year on the injured list until he steps onto the bump. The southpaw has stated publicly that he was exhausted following the conclusion of the 2025 campaign, which included a heavy workload in the playoffs, so it would be wise to expect the team to continue to bring him along slowly, knowing there's plenty of pitching depth at the ready if Snell isn't available for the start of the 2026 season.

Blake Snell chimes in as Dodgers re-sign Evan Phillips on $6.5M deal Veteran relief pitcher Evan Phillips is returning for another season with the Los Angeles Dodgers after signing a one-year $6.5 million contract in free agency on Wednesday.

Could begin season on injured list Snell could begin the season on the injured list due to lingering shoulder issues, Jack Harris of the California Post reports.
Impact Snell missed most of the first four months of last season with left shoulder inflammation. He pitched well down the stretch of the regular season and in the first three rounds of the playoffs before stumbling in the World Series. Snell remains hopeful of being ready for Opening Day, and if he does require an IL stint it seems it would be more about preserving him over the long haul rather than the southpaw actually being injured. The Dodgers are likely to deploy a six-man rotation again and have the depth to slow-play Snell, if that's the route they decide to take.

Ramping up slowly Snell has ramped up slowly this winter in an effort to recover from his postseason workload, Jack Harris of the New York Post reports.
Impact Snell acknowledged that he was exhausted following the Dodgers' postseason run, during which he made five starts and a relief appearance. He hopes to be ready for Opening Day, but both he and the team have acknowledged the importance of being patient. Los Angeles is expected to handle its pitching staff cautiously overall, and it has enough rotation depth to do so -- particularly early in the campaign.
