Ketel Marte - Keeps raking Marte went 1-for-5 with a solo home run and an RBI groundout during Sunday's 6-5 win over Pittsburgh.
Impact Marte delivered a solo homer off Jake Woodford in the ninth inning, giving the Diamondbacks a much-needed insurance run. The second baseman has been on fire the last few weeks, going 29-for-74 (.392) with 10 homers, 26 RBI and 17 runs in his last 20 games. He's up to 27 home runs on the year, five shy of his career-best tally.

Joc Pederson - Swats go-ahead homer Pederson went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 6-5 win over the Pirates.
Impact Pederson gave the Diamondbacks their first lead of the game in the seventh inning, lifting a three-run shot off Colin Holderman with two outs. The long ball was Pederson's 17th of the year. In 311 plate appearances, the 32-year-old has a .282/.390/.541 slash line with 41 runs and 49 RBI.

A.J. Puk - Winds up with save Puk picked up the save Sunday against Pittsburgh, striking out one during two-thirds of a perfect inning.
Impact Puk took over with runners on the corners and one out after Ryan Thompson yielded an RBI single to Bryan Reynolds to bring the Pirates within one run. Puk got the Diamondbacks out of the jam, retiring Oneil Cruz and Bryan De La Cruz to end the game and pick up his first save for Arizona. With Paul Sewald being removed from the closing role, it's been Thompson who's received the first two save chances. However, Thompson has allowed a run in both appearances, which could open the door for Puk to see some ninth-inning work.

Ryne Nelson - Yields four runs to Pirates Nelson didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Pittsburgh, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks across five innings. He struck out seven.
Impact Though Nelson didn't allow a home run, three of the six hits against him went for extra bases. The 26-year-old punched out at least seven batters for the third time in four appearances after having done so twice in his first 15 starts. Through 110.1 innings, Nelson has logged a 4.65 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP while compiling an 8-6 record. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Phillies on Friday.

Impact Grichuk drew starts in all three games of the Diamondbacks' series with the Nationals to close out July, though Washington brought southpaws to the hill for each of those contests. Impact The shortstop also reached base in his fourth plate appearance as he got plunked by a Dennis Santana fastball in the fifth inning. Perdomo has racked up 10 knocks during his current five-game hitting streak, and since the beginning of July he's put together a .295/.340/.409 slash line with two steals, 12 RBI and 20 runs over 25 contests despite mainly batting ninth in the order -- a benefit of having Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte hitting behind him once the lineup turns over.

Jordan Montgomery - Looks good in rain-shortened start Montgomery did not factor into the decision in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Pirates, allowing one run on one hit and two walks over three innings. He struck out three.
Impact The veteran southpaw was looking sharp until rain created a 68-minute delay in the middle of the fourth inning, ending Montgomery's day prematurely. While the delay was out of his control, he hasn't been able to give Arizona much length even under ideal conditions -- Montgomery's completed six innings only once in his last nine trips to the mound, posting a brutal 8.20 ERA, 1.93 WHIP and 27:17 K:BB through 37.1 innings over that stretch. He'll try to build on Saturday's performance in his next start, which is scheduled to come at home next week against the Phillies.

Paul Sewald - First appearance in new role Sewald walked one and struck out one over a scoreless inning in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Pittsburgh.
Impact Sewald made his first appearance since manager Torey Lovullo removed him from the closer's role. He did a better job of finding the strike zone -- eight of 15 pitches for strikes -- after throwing just nine strikes over 24 offerings Wednesday. It was that appearance which triggered the decision to strip him of the title as Arizona's closer. As Lovullo explained it, Sewald had a mechanical issue that impacted his ability to throw strikes.

Merrill Kelly - Targets set for rehab start Kelly (shoulder) is scheduled to throw four innings and 65 pitches in Tuesday's rehab start for High-A Hillsboro, MLB.com reports.
Impact The news that Kelly was set to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday was already out there, but the Diamondbacks offered details about a projected length. It's possible, if Kelly meets those projected goals, this could be the right-hander's lone rehab outing.
