Locks down win No. 8 Wood (8-3) earned the win Wednesday over the Cardinals, allowing a run on three hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings.

Impact Wood had one of his better outings of the season, and the only run scored against him came in the first off an RBI double by Nolan Arenado. The 30-year-old lefty settled in afterward, throwing six shutout innings and 62-of-94 pitches for strikes while not allowing another baserunner to reach scoring position. Wednesday was his first quality start since June 14, which was a run of three starts. He's struck out at least six while allowing no more than two runs or four hits in four of his last five outings. Wood will head into the All-Star break with a 3.67 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 87:27 K:BB over 83.1 innings.

Notches win No. 7 Wood (7-3) allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out eight over five innings in a win over the Diamondbacks on Friday.

Impact Wood retired nine of the first 10 batters he faced but found himself in some trouble during the fourth. He allowed two singles and hit a batter to load the bases and then surrendered a two-run single to Asdrubal Cabrera to give the Giants a narrow 3-2 lead. He got out of the inning without any further issues and showed some more struggles in the fifth with two walks but was able to keep the Diamondbacks off the scoreboard. He's now allowed two earned runs or less in three of his last four starts and has back-to-back eight strikeouts performances. The 30-year-old lefty owns a 3.89 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 81:25 K:BB over 76.1 innings and is set up for a favorable matchup at home against the Cardinals next week.
