SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) — Andre Brackett returned the opening kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown, Daniel Adeboboy ran for 145 yards and a score and Bryant held off Long Island University 27-22 on Saturday.

Bryant (2-5, 2-1 Northeast Conference) used Brackett's return and Luke Samperi's 33-yard field goal to forge a 10-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Long Island (0-5, 0-4) stormed back with Clay Beathard's 2-yard TD run and Briant DeFelice's 30-yard field goal to knot the score at 10 at halftime.

A forced turnover got the Bulldogs rolling to open the second half. Jack Agnew forced Tim Marinan to fumble on Long Island's first play and Jack Agnew recovered it at the Sharks' 5-yard line. Bryant needed one play — Kory Curtis' 5-yard TD toss to Jihad Edmond — to take a 17-10 lead. Adeboboy scored on a 39-yard run to push the Bulldogs' lead to 24-10 and Samperi capped the scoring with a 31-yard field goal 5 seconds into the final quarter.

Beathard hit Alex Daubon for a 9-yard score early in the fourth and added a 2-yard TD run with 5:34 left to play. Beathard drove the Sharks to the Bryant 35-yard line before throwing incomplete on fourth-and-6.
