Seth McGowan - Rushes for 47 yards McGowan ran 11 times for 47 yards against Fresno State on Saturday.
Impact For comparison's sake, NMSU totaled 61 yards passing. This offense is struggling heavily in the post-Jerry Kill era. McGowan, a four-star recruit for Oklahoma back in the day, is the most-talented player on this team, and this team has no real hope but to rely on him it would appear.

Deuce Hogan - Brutal against Fresno Hogan stepped in for Parker Awad in a 48-0 blowout loss to Fresno State on Saturday. He went 4-for-13 for eight yards with two picks.
Impact Hogan couldn't get playing time at Iowa, or at Kentucky. Parker Awad has been bad as NMSU's starting quarterback, but when Hogan played in this one, he was even worse. Maybe the Aggies will need to dip into the depth chart and hope to find gold?

Impact Simply put, completing 37.0 percent of your passes won't cut it, especially when you've also averaged 0.8 yards per rush. It's not surprising that Deuce Hogan got a chance to play in this one. The problem is that he was even worse than Awad.

Monte Watkins - Catches long TD Watkins ran three times for 14 yards Saturday against NMSU, but he also had one catch for a 64-yard touchdown.
Impact Watkins is a big-play guy. He averaged 9.7 yards per carry in 2023, though that was admittedly on 59 carries. Watkins has averaged 5.4 yards per tote in 2024, but he has this long touchdown that was mostly his work, and is also a kick returner. There is potential here in the right matchups.

Mike Washington - Nets 71 yards Washington ran 14 times for 61 yards and caught one pass for 10 yards against Liberty on Saturday.
Impact The Aggies are run heavy, and Washington seems to be the plodder of the group. He's gotten 32 carries, but he's averaged 3.5 yards per carry and hasn't run for a score. Washington will get his touches, but Seth McGowan and Monte Watkins have more big-play ability.

Impact The Aggies are relying on the run game early, because Parker Awad isn't cutting it at quarterback. McGown, a four-star recruit at Oklahoma forever ago by college standards, seems to have stepped in as the best back NMSU has. Through two games he has averaged 5.9 yards per carry and notched three TDs.

Impact Three touchdowns is good! Here are a few things that are not good. One, completing 40.9 percent of your passes. Two, totaling minus-20 yards on the ground. Three, losing a fumble. Awad was a disaster in NMSU's opener, so don't get too enthusiastic about three scores.

Impact Pride interested us the most among the NMSU receivers after Week 1. NMSU's quarterbacks combined to complete seven passes for 60 yards with an interception. This seems like a team that will have to rely on the run game, and the true freshman Pride got involved there.
