Santino Marucci - May have lost starting role Marucci went 3-for-10 for 24 yards, ran for 21 yards, and lost a fumble against JSU on Wednesday.
Impact Marucci was given a chance to start due to Parker Awad struggling in the role. He's failed to complete over half his passes in any of his three starts and has more turnovers than touchdowns as a starter. Awad saw time in this one, so Marucci's opportunity may be over.

Parker Awad - Gets back on the field Awad went 9-for-16 for 120 yards, one touchdown, and one interception against JSU on Wednesday. He also ran five times for 21 yards.
Impact Awad was the starting quarterback for NMSU when the season started, but he struggled and Santino Marucci took over. Marucci wasn't any better, though, so when this game became a blowout, Awad got back in the action. He outperformed Marucci in this game, and so this QB situation seems back up in the air.

TJ Pride - Has 63 yards receiving Pride caught three passes for 63 yards against New Mexico on Saturday.
Impact It would appear NMSU's staff wants to get the ball into the true freshman's hands more. He had seven targets last week, though they only were turned into 33 yards. This week Pride broke off a 50-yard catch, and he also got a chance to return a punt, which speaks to the desire to have him involved.

Seth McGowan - Totals over 100 yards McGowan ran 10 times for 74 yards and had three catches for 38 yards versus New Mexico on Saturday.
Impact McGowan doesn't have a touchdown in the last three weeks, but he remains the clearest path to success for NMSU's lackluster offense. He's averaged 5.5 yards per carry and has added eight catches for 64 yards and a score. While it's unlikely he's suddenly going to get 25 touches a game, there is at least some upside here.

Mike Washington - Three TD day Washington ran 13 times for 54 yards and two touchdowns against New Mexico on Saturday. He also caught one pass for a 25-yard score.
Impact Three touchdowns from the Buffalo transfer certainly turns head. However, these are also his first three scores of the season. He's a bit of a plodder, but the passing game is a mess for NMSU, so Washington is going to get his touches.

Larenzo McMillan - Pops for long TD McMillan only got one carry against New Mexico on Saturday, but he turned it into an 84-yard touchdown.
Impact Mike Washington and Seth McGowan have established themselves for NMSU. Santino Marucci's one skill as a quarterback is being capable in the run game. That being said, the Aggies' are fully indebted to running the ball to do anything offensively. By dint of breaking off this touchdown run, McMillan may have earned himself more touches going forward.

Santino Marucci - Touchdowns two ways Marucci went 13-for-29 for 189 yards and a touchdown against New Mexico on Saturday. He also ran seven times for 42 yards and a score.
Impact This remains a team built around running the ball and its backs. Marucci's passing touchdown was a quick dump off to running back Mike Washington who turned it into a 25-yard score. Marucci is bad at throwing the ball, but he's viable on the ground, and that's more than former starter Parker Awad could say.

Impact After the Saturday game, New Mexico State's head coach Tony Sanchez said Hogan suffered an injury. It concerns one of his collarbones and will cause him to sit out 2024. This year was bad for Hogan, considering he accomplished fewer than 10 receptions and 100 yards.

Impact McGowan has 250 yards on 49 carries through four games and he hasn't fumbled the ball. He's been competent, and he is probably the only player on the NMSU offense you can say that about. It feels like the Aggies have swiftly fallen back into their pre-Jerry Kill misery.
