Lathan Sommerville - Suffers ankle injury Sommerville (ankle) reportedly twisted an ankle in practice this past weekend and is questionable for Thursday's contest against Nevada, per Max Vrooman of SB Nation.

Impact Sommerville seems to be in jeopardy of missing his first contest of the season on Thursday due to a twisted ankle. The 6-foot-10 big man has had a solid start to the season for the Huskies, averaging 7.6 points and three rebounds per game across five contests since trasnfering in from Rutgers in the off-season. Should he be held out on Thanksgiving, the Huskies could be very thin in the frontcourt, with both Hannes Steinbach and Bryson Tucker questionable as well.

Impact Washington's team is preparing for the Acrisure Holiday Classic, a four-team tournament featuring Washington, Nevada, Colorado and San Francisco. It has been two weeks since Rothstein announced that Tucker would sit out two-to-three weeks because of his ankle injury, making Thursday a realistic day for the injured forward to return. But with that unlikely, the injury-riddled Huskies may continue to start Zoom Diallo, though Desmond Claude's strong return from injury (20 points, six rebounds) warrants consideration for him to enter the starting five.

Impact It has been more than a week since Steinbach was ruled out for Washington's latest game against Southern, yet his ankle still appears to be a problem that will likely lead to another DNP. In his place against Southern, UW's starting lineup added Quimari Peterson, but it would also make sense if the Cougars add Desmond Claude after his triumphant return with 20 points and six assists.

Impact Diallo has had a few big games to open this 2025-2026 campaign for Washington, but he was rather quiet as the Huskies snuck past Southern in double overtime. Not only were his nine points on six shots both season lows, but he only pulled down one rebound and wasn't a factor as a passer with zero assists. He'll look to bounce back against Nevada on Nov. 27

Quimari Peterson - Inefficient 15 in narrow win Peterson had 15 points (4-16 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one block and three steals in 50 minutes during Tuesday's 99-93 2OT victory over Southern University.

Impact Peterson needed 16 shots to score 15 points, a rough outing from an efficiency standpoint but still, a season-high for the senior guard. He also picked up another three steals for the third time in five games, continuing to be a menace defensively. The East Tennessee transfer needs to improve his efficiency, as he's shooting 35.8 percent from the field this year, but he's been a big part of the Huskies' offense.

Wesley Yates III - Leading scorer in nail-biter Yates chipped in 23 points (6-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 9-14 FT), six rebounds, one assist and three steals over 37 minutes during Tuesday's 99-93 2OT win over Southern University.

Impact Yates has filled it up as of late; he has 49 total points over his last two games. He wasn't the most efficient as Washington squeaked past Southern, and his five turnovers certainly didn't help matters. Still, he remains the Huskies' best pure scorer and bucket-getter.

Franck Kepnang - Menace on the glass Kepnang fouled out of Tuesday's 99-93 2OT win over Southern University after recording six points (3-6 FG), 12 rebounds, one assist, six blocks and three steals across 32 minutes.

Impact Kepnang scored just six points on six shots, but he was a monster on the glass with a dozen rebounds and six blocks. His defensive presence was enormous in helping the Huskies avoid what would've been a disastrous upset. Kepnang hasn't been a big scorer this season, but he's done a lot of the dirty work for Washington.

Impact Claude was spotted in warmups, and even though he didn't start, he finished as the team's second-highest scorer behind Wesley Yates, who finished with 23 points. Claude should eventually return to the starting lineup, possibly as early as Thursday, Nov. 27, against Nevada.

Desmond Claude - Warming up, not starting Claude (ankle) is participating in pregame shootaround, but he isn't listed in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Southern, Aaron Coe of emeraldcityspectrum reports.

Impact Claude hasn't appeared in a game this season due to an ankle injury. However, the USC transfer is participating in Washington's pregame festivities, which is a good sign. His participation does not guarantee he'll play Tuesday, and even if he does take the floor, his absence from the starting lineup indicates he'd likely be limited.

Impact Seeing Claude on the court during the early warmups is certainly encouraging. If he stays during the entire shootaround, his chances of playing Tuesday would increase dramatically.

Hannes Steinbach - Won't play Tuesday Steinbach has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against Southern due to an undisclosed injury.

Impact Steinbach has been dominant to start his freshman season, having logged three straight double-doubles and averaging 14.5 points, 12.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocks over four appearances overall. However, he'll be sidelined Tuesday, leaving frontcourt duties to Lathan Sommerville, Franck Kepnang and Christian Nitu. His next chance to play will come Nov. 27 against Nevada.

Desmond Claude - Questionable Tuesday Claude (ankle) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Southern.

Impact Claude has yet to play for the Huskies this season, and the questionable tag suggests a decision on his status will be made closer to the 9:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Claude averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 boards and 4.2 assists for USC last season, so he should be a valuable contributor for Washington once he's ready to play.
