Impact Blackwell didn't get much help from his frontcourt in a game that was largely played from 10 or more points behind, but his ability to convert tough shots kept the struggling Badger offense within striking distance in what would have otherwise been a total blowout. Blackwell forms an outstanding backcourt duo with newcomer Nick Boyd that averages a combined 40.0 ppg through eight games this season, but Wisconsin has lost two of its last three, all against power-conference competition. The Badgers will look to bounce back Wednesday at home against Northwestern, their first Big Ten opponent.

Impact Blackwell dropped 24 points after a quiet eight-point showing against Ball State. The junior guard was aggressive but tactical, putting up 11 shots and draining five three-pointer. Wisconsin needed its star guard to take another leap this season, and through four games, with Blackwell averaging 19.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists on 50/50/91 shooting splits, it's safe to say he's answered the bell. Things get significantly more difficult against BYU on Friday afternoon, however.

Impact Blackwell, a preseason all-Big Ten first team selection, was one point shy of his career-best scoring total set in January of 2024-25. While he and the Badgers let Campbell hang around for a bit longer than expected, Blackwell was key in helping the team pull away down the stretch, as the team finished on a 29-2 run. He'll look to continue that momentum in another home game Friday against Northern Illinois.

Impact As is expected to be the case for most of the 2025-26 season, Blackwell led the Badgers in minutes played and scoring, while also filling up other box score categories. The scoring stands to potentially expand even further this year, as the Badgers lost leading scorer John Tonje (19.6 ppg), leaving Blackwell as the go-to option. Given this was a close game against a power-conference opponent, the Wisconsin usage here is likely reflective of what we'll see during higher-stakes games in the regular season.
