He's the clear focal point in Eugene and is set for a steady volume of production all year. The Ducks figure to go as Shelstad goes for the most part.

Starting vs. Rice
Shelstad (hand) is in the starting lineup for Friday's game against Rice, James Crepea of The Oregonian reports.
Impact
Shelstad was expected to be a game-time call for this contest, but it seems the star guard is healthy enough not only to play but to feature in the starting unit. This will be his debut in the 2025-26 season.

Expected to return for Players Era
Shelstad (hand) is expected to return for the Ducks' Players Era Festival opener against Auburn on Nov. 24, per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
Shelstad has been pushing to recover from his hand ailment and be ready in time for the season opener, but that was always a long shot for the star guard. Now, it appears he'll return for Oregon's big test in the Players Era Festival tournament in Las Vegas, where the Ducks will face no shortage of stiff competition beginning with the Auburn Tigers. Last season, Shelstad averaged 13.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals.

Not expected to be ready for opener
Shelstad (hand) isn't expected to be available for Oregon's opener against Hawaii on Nov. 4, per James Crepea of The Oregonian.
Impact
The star guard was initially expected to be out 4-6 weeks after breaking his hand, which could've in theory meant he would be ready for the Ducks' season tip-off. Still, Shelstad is reportedly not expected to be healthy enough to play in the opener even if that's what the guard is pushing for himself. Shelstad appears slated to miss a few games, but with opening night still a few weeks out, the junior still has a shot to suit up against the Rainbow Warriors.

Breaks hand, out 4-6 weeks
Shelstad broke his hand and will be out for 4-6 weeks, per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
With the Ducks season opener just over a month out, Shelstad could in theory return in time for the opener against Hawaii, but that seems like a long-shot at this point. More likely, Oregon's star point guard, who averaged 13.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists last year, will miss a handful of games to start the season. In his stead, Takai Simpkins could slide into the starting point guard role, and Jamari Phillips should also see more minutes as well.
