Commits to Louisville
Shelstad (hand) has committed to Louisville, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.
Impact
Louisville's team raised its overall stock with Mikel Brown at the point last season, but with him going pro, the Cardinals need a replacement at their one. In place of him will be Shelstad, who delivered whenever for Oregon. Just last season, he updated his career-highs in points (15.6) and three-pointers made (2.8) per game despite a hand injury rendering him out for much of the 2025-26 season. Now that Shelstad's 2026-27 season includes a team, his focus shifts to recovering for next season, playmaking for a team both led by him and Flory Bidunga.

Leaving Eugene
Shelstad (hand) will enter the transfer portal, per Joe Tipton of On3.
Impact
Shelstad had a disappointing 2025-26 season, as he was hampered by a hand injury for much of the year and missed the final 19 games as Oregon limped to a 16th-place finish in the Big Ten. When he was healthy, he was dynamic, averaging 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists. His shooting efficiency took a slight dip, but again, he battled a hand ailment for much of the season. Shelstad will be one of the top players in the transfer portal.

Likely done for the season
Shelstad (hand) is expected to miss the rest of the 2025-26 season with tendon and ligament damage in his right hand, James Crepea of The Oregonian reports.
Impact
Shelstad, who sustained a right-hand injury in late December, is dealing with ligament and tendon damage that is expected to sideline him for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Head coach Dana Altman said that the injury may require surgery, but regardless Shelstad is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. The 6-foot-1 junior was off to a strong start in his third season with the Ducks, averaging 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists and 1.4 steals across 12 starts. This is back-breaking news for an Oregon team with pre-season NCAA Tournament aspirations. In the wake of Shelstad's injury the Ducks will likely rely on Wei Lin to run point for the remainder of the season.

Likely to miss more time
Shelstad (hand) is in pain to the point where he cannot dribble or shoot, Dylan Burkhardt of UMHoops.com reports.
Impact
Head coach Dana Altman said that Shelstad is eager to play, but the pain in his right hand is preventing him from making a return. Based on the context, it seems like Shelstad will at least miss Saturday's game versus Michigan and will likely miss more time after that. Unfortunately, there is now clear timetable for his return at this time. The junior was averaging 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game in his 12 games prior to his injury, so needless to say the Ducks will want him back as soon as possible.

Impact
Shelstad will miss his fourth straight game for the Ducks. The starting point guard has been excellent this season, averaging 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists, but he'll have to wait a little longer to make his return to the court. Wei Lin should draw the start once again in his absence.

Lands questionable tag

Impact
Shelstad has a chance to return after a three-game absence due to a hand injury. The point guard is averaging 15.6 points, 4.9 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game this season, and if he's cleared to suit up, he'd likely push Wei Lin out of the starting lineup.

Out Monday in Jersey
Shelstad (hand) is out for Oregon's clash with Rutgers on Monday.
Impact
Shelstad will now miss his second straight game. The starting point guard has been highly impactful when healthy this season, averaging 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists. However, the Ducks will have to do without him for a second straight game. This likely means Wei Lin will get the start in his stead once again. Shelstad will look to return on Jan. 8 against Ohio State.
