Dortmund forward Guirassy leaves injured against Real Betis in Champions League
DORTMUND, Germany (AP) — Borussia Dortmund forward Serhou Guirassy was substituted out in the first half with what appeared to be a thigh injury during the team's 2-1 win over Real Betis in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Guinea star, who has scored 23 goals in 32 Champions League appearances for Dortmund, picked himself up gingerly after going close to the side netting in the third minute. He was initially able to continue, but he went off half an hour later after he had been holding his thigh.
Konstantinos Karetsas, who entered for Guirassy, went on to play a decisive role in Dortmund's win, involved in the buildup for Fabio Silva's opener after the break and then scoring the winner with what was the Greek winger's first goal for Dortmund after Aitor Ruibal had pulled the visitors level.
It gave Dortmund three wins from four games so far in the Champions League.
Dortmund next plays Elversberg in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Dortmund is level on points with league leader Bayern Munich after their 2-2 draw in Munich last weekend. Both teams are the only remaining unbeaten in the Bundesliga.
